Kia ora koutou (hello everyone)
Name the chick, what happens on land affects the sea. We have delayed the public voting as a few key people have been away recently. We will announce the opening of the voting round as soon as possible.

Weigh day update
Top Flat chick and Top Flat Track chick (who has been out of view, just down the hill today) were not weighed today as the ranger time has gone into weighing and supplementary feeding chicks low in weigh. One of the other chicks is being supplementary feed 5 days a week and several others have needed occasional top ups from the ranger team.
Top Flat chick is 231 days old today. Last week he weighed 9.7 kg which was average for that age. He had expelled a bolus on the 6th of September. LGL and LGK have fed him since expelling the bolus.
Top Flat Track chick is 223 days old today. Last week he weighed 9.1 kg which, although below average, was still in the healthy weight range. Both parents have been in to feed him since the last weigh day.
Fledging
Fledging has started a few from further down the hill have left now. All the chicks are practising hovering and holding their wings out in the wind. Their weights drop prior to fledging and mobility increases.
Parents and chicks can recognize each other from at least 50m apart so it is not necessarily an issue if the chicks are not at their nests when the parents come in for those last few feeds. Once the chicks do fledge, a parent may wait near a nest for a while until they decide their chick is not showing up. The parents then head to the waters off South America to feed up for the next 12 months before arriving back to breed again.
