45 eggs were laid, although 2 are infertile and 1 had broken before the daily ranger check at the nest. 42 eggs are fertile.
Most Northern Royal Albatrosses mate for life. Pairs will engage in complex courtship displays that involve several dance-like actions like skypointing, skycalling, preening, and rattling. Once a bird finds a mate, they perfect and simplify this ritual as a way to identify their partner.
This highlight features female YRK (right), a former parent featured on the Royal Albatross cam in 2020 and 2022. Sadly, her prior mate (OGK) did not return to the breeding colony this year, and she's now practicing courtship rituals with new potential partners.
The 9-year-old male bird (left) in this clip is none other than the chick of the very first Royal Albatross Cam pair, YWK and KGY.

It is too soon to tell if YRK will partner with this male or some other one.
Once the new webcam arrives and is installed it will be moved to the 2024 location of Top Flat to view the following 2 nests:
The experienced Royalcam pair of LGK and LGL are back at Top Flat having raised Karere in 2019 and Tiaki in 2021, their fertile egg was laid on the 7th November.
Only a few meters away, one week later, on the 14th November, WYL and BOK also have a fertile egg

Exciting News!
The webcam move will be TOMORROW. Due to delays in the new webcam with IR night light included, we have decided to move the old webcam up to Top Flat tomorrow and install the new cam later.
The live stream will be off during the move on the 13th December and then we may have a period of testing before resuming the live stream fully.

The cam will still be able to be panned to view action in the northern area.
Currently we have both the males on at their respective nests, LGK came in on Sunday and WYL has been on for 9 days so is due for a changeover.
Here is a close up of LGL prior to Sunday's changeover at Top Flat.
