Manaaki is 221 days old today. He weighed in at 10.4 kg this morning.
Albatross are well adapted to life on the ocean. In fact, that is where they will now spend over 85% of their lives. They become juveniles once they have fledged. The juveniles learn quickly how to live on the ocean and spend some weeks feeding off the east coast of New Zealand before crossing the Pacific Ocean to the rich waters off the coast of South America.
There will still be plenty to watch on cam for the next while as there are some younger chicks in the area.
