DNF: “It’s a new year, sweetheart! Just checking to see if you still have your honey do list and your ear plugs are put away.”
Mr. North: “Yes, honey! I told you yesterday that I would not use them (most of the time). Plus, my honey do list is right here.”
DNF: “I am happy that you have been working so hard this morning, sweetheart. I am just nervous that the nest won’t be ready, and you know how I am about that. So I will still be keeping my eye on you!” (See last photo)
All will be fine as they make a great team. Now the long countdown to egg laying. Eggs are normally laid here starting mid February through the 3rd week. DNF on left in all photos.

Decorah Eagles – Iowa
Here is an update of which some of you might already know all about and others who don’t follow as close might not. We just want to get everyone on the same page about what’s been happening at the Decorah Eagles for the upcoming 2023 nesting season.
The live cam is currently focused on nest N1 at the hatchery. At nest(N1) a new pair of Bald Eagles have moved in. Named HD(hatchery dad and HM(hatchery mom), they have both been busy at the nest mostly in the mornings and evenings getting it prepared for the 2023 nesting season.
Take note:
There are currently 2 nests at the hatchery. They have been named N1 and N2B. N1 was rebuilt by RRP in September 2021. N2B is currently empty.
The original Decorah Eagles mom and her mate DM2 decided build a nest elsewhere for the spring of 2021 and spring of 2022 seasons.
When will HD and HM lay eggs?
A good guess would be somewhere between mid February and the beginning of March.

oh no, what happened to the eggs?

New to this after Jackie and Shadow in California. Is this Mr. North? If so, he’s been on this nest since I woke up early this morning. Where’s his Mrs.?
Buddy’s Mom
Mr. North has been doing the incubating. When the egg was laid, there were a lot of “visiting” eagles in the area and DNF was busy chasing them off and just didn’t start incubating

Bless his Big Heart ❤
Mr. North is still incubating the two eggs that are not expected to Hatch. He's not quite ready to let go but DNF(Decorah North Female) has moved on. Which is a good thing at this point! Hoping for a second clutch ❤
