Tune in tomorrow for weigh day. Where we see if any chicks need supplementary feeding to ensure proper development.
ROY is a male, I do not know if this implies that QT is a female. Male sea lions will try to mate with young sea lions of either sex, for example.
Looking forward to it. Will we know QT's gender by this week?
I am not sure, there has been no word so far.
It must be good for scientists like yourself Sharyn to study their behaviour through the Cam.
I don't recall an attempt at mating a chick before, all is well now.
Julia says that there is a minor bite on the chicks back. There will be a closer inspection tomorrow during weighing.

Kia ora koutou (hello everyone)
It has been an eventful time for the Quarry Track chick has spent time alone, during the day and overnight. There has been an uncommon interaction by a non-breeder albatross who tried to mate with the chick. All is well now. OGK has been coming and going frequently and YRK has also been back in.
A weigh in for day 41 this morning puts the chick at 3.3kg, this is up 700g from last week. The minor injury from ROY yesterday is healing and needs no intervention.
The non-breeders how have been keeping company and may breed next season have left to feed up in the waters of the coast of South America. The remaining unattached non-breeders will gradually leave over the next several weeks.
