Perēšanas galvenais uzdevums ir uzturēt olas optimālajā temperatūrā no 37° līdz 38°C. Olas iekšējā temperatūra sākumā ir zema, bet pieaugot perēšanas ilgumam un olas iekšējajam metabolismam, iekšējais siltums pieaug.
Nopietnas problēmas embrijam olas attīstībā rada temperatūru maiņa ārpus no 35° un 40.5°C robežām. Augstāka temperatūra ir letāla olai, un arī īsa uzturēšanās temperatūrās no 26° līdz 35°C var pārtraukt embrija attīstību. Zem 26°C embrija attīstība apstājas. Tādēļ bieža vai nepārtraukta sildīšana ir nepieciešama, ja vien apkārtnes temperatūra nav ļoti augsta.

Perējot, vecāki uztur olas iekšējo temperatūru ļoti stabilu, neskatoties uz perēšanas paradumiem. Dabiskais perēšanas ritms sugām tiek radīts tā, lai uzturētu olās vajadzīgās temperatūras. Aukstākā laikā perēšanas sesiju ilgums ir garāks un barošanās laiks vecākam ir īsāks.

M ir tik labs un atnes daļēji apēsto zivi atpakaļ Harietai, kura ielec ligzdā un to pieprasa. Šito briesmīgo spiegšanu Harieta ātri paēd maltīti un pēc tam atsāka inkubāciju. Bet viņa pēc 15 minūtēm pieceļas no olām un aizlido uz dienvidrietumiem vokalizējot. M ir atgriezies, lai pārņemtu inkubāciju – kārtējā perfekti izpildīta maiņas maiņa!

Owl STRIKES & Hits M15 Again! M15 On HIGH ALERT! Slomo! 12.22.21

Early in the morning, M is sleeping on the attic when the GHO (great horned owl) targets and strikes him and knocks him off the branch. The both fall into the branches below the nest and M will fly off to the left and the owl to the right. M will return to the attic branch but can't hold on and ends up dropping to the nest with vocals. In regular time and slomo - views from cam 1, cam 2 and the 360.

Harriet and M remain on high alert as M stays on the side of the nest. He goes back up to the attic but a few minutes later drops back down to the nest and remains there will Harriet. He is watching the area and guarding his family. He will go back up to the attic and outer branch but remains on alert. An hour later he flies off the outer attic seeing something and comes back around vocalizing at 9:00. Harriet also joins in vocalizing as the male owl is probably around the area hunting. What a night! With the owls in close proximity this season, we have seen an increase in strikes on the eagles. Harriet & M continue to protect their eggs, nest and territory.

Agri no rīta M guļ uz bēniņiem, kad GHO (lielā ragainā pūce) mērķē un sit viņam un nogāž no zara. Abi iekrīt zaros zem ligzdas, un M aizlidos pa kreisi un pūce pa labi. M atgriezīsies bēniņu zarā, bet nevar noturēties un ar vokālu nokrīt ligzdā. Pamatlaikā un slomo — skati no cam 1, cam 2 un 360.

Harieta un M joprojām ir modrībā, jo M paliek ligzdas malā. Viņš dodas atpakaļ uz bēniņiem, bet pēc dažām minūtēm nolaižas atpakaļ uz ligzdu un paliks tur, Harieta. M vēro apkārtni un sargā savu ģimeni. Viņš dosies atpakaļ uz bēniņiem un ārējo atzaru, bet paliek modrā. Stundu vēlāk viņš izlido no ārējiem bēniņiem, kaut ko ieraugot, un atgriežas vokalizējot pulksten 9:00. Harieta arī pievienojas balsij, jo pūces tēviņš, iespējams, atrodas apkārtnē un medī. Kas par nakti! Tā kā šajā sezonā pūces atrodas tiešā tuvumā, mēs esam novērojuši ērgļu uzbrukumu pieaugumu. Harriet & M turpina aizsargāt savas olas, ligzdu un teritoriju.

Another Owl Strike On M15! Knocks Him Off The Attic! Multi-cam Views & Slomo! 12.23.21

Tonight we see another owl strike on M15 as he is sleeping on the attic. The owl targets and knocks him off the branch. He falls below the nest to a branch and the owl flies off to the right. M will fly down and to the left and return to the nest tree a couple minutes later. Views from cam 2, 360 and cam 1 in regular time and slomo.

When M returns to the attic, both he and Harriet begin alerting loudly as he scans the area for the owl. Thankfully he is okay however the owl attacks seem to be increasing and we are counting down the days until the eggs hatch. Harriet and M will have to be extra vigilant this season as the GHO's (Great Horned Owls) will be raising their owlets in close proximity.

Liekas,ka tas ūpis šogad ir vairāk agresīvs ar uzbrukumiem, bet varbūt, ka netika pieteikoši no vērotāju puses piefiksēts iepriekšējais gads šajā laikā kaut kā tā!

M15 flew to the front church snag after seeing a coyote in the front of the pasture that we could not see because of the tall grass. M15 alerted and watched it as it made its' way down the driveway. M15 then flew over the coyote to the CSPS (church side pond snag) where M15 watched it until it disappeared past the stables. M15 then went back to the nest and took over incubation duties while Harriet perched on the pasture snag and the front drive snag. On her way to the power poles, Harriet diverted her flight making her presence known to the GHO pair nesting in the west pasture. Both Mama and Papa owl were seen today; Mama incubating and Papa watching over his mate in a nearby palm tree. A sub adult flew over the west pasture area looking down at the area for a while also.

Looking & Listening To Eggs! M Stocks The Pantry & Brings In New Crib Rails! 12.24.21

We are seeing both Harriet & M15 looking down at the eggs and watching & listening to them today. Today is day 34 for egg #1 and although we did not see any signs of an external pip, it is very likely that the eaglet is working on the internal pip.

Slight movements within the egg & sounds can be heard. About 4 days before hatching the chick develops an egg tooth at the top of its bill. From inside the egg the chick pokes a hole in the membrane separating it from the air bubble at the top of the egg shell. Still inside the egg, the chick takes its first breath into the air bubble and draws in its first breath of oxygen. This bit of air will provide energy to scratch a hole through the egg shell to the outside - this is called the internal pip. The chick then uses its egg tooth to break a hole through the egg shell - that is called the external pip and what we are waiting and watching to see! From the time we see the first pip, it can take up to 24- 72 hours for the chick to break free of the shell.

Harriet gets up off the eggs and we get a great view of them this morning. M flies in with a whole fish and leaves it on the side of the nest - he is getting ready to stock the pantry for the future babies. Later in the afternoon, Harriet is incubating and M flies in with a huge stick and Harriet ducks under the stick. She gets up and eats the fish gift and M will place the crib rails before flying to the pasture. He returns to incubate the eggs and watch his sweetheart eat ♥♥ M gets up again and Harriet finishes her fish and flies to the pasture snag and M will drop down and resume incubation. No brīža, kad mēs redzam pirmo kauliņu, var paiet 24–72 stundas, līdz cālis atbrīvojas no čaumalas.

Harieta pieceļas no olām, un mēs šorīt uz tām redzam lielisku skatu. M ielido ar veselu zivi un atstāj to ligzdas malā - gatavojas pieliekamo krājumiem topošajiem mazuļiem. Vēlāk pēcpusdienā Harieta inkubējas un M ielido ar milzīgu nūju un Harieta pīlēs zem nūjas. Viņa pieceļas un apēd zivju dāvanu, un M noliks gultiņas sliedes pirms lidošanas uz ganībām. Viņš atgriežas, lai inkubētu olas un noskatītos, kā viņa mīļotā ēd. ♥♥ M atkal pieceļas un Harieta pabeidz savu zivi un lido uz ganību aizķeršanos, un M nometīsies un atsāks inkubāciju. Drīz... pavisam drīz!
