Legacy takes off from lookout point (LOP) soaring in the distance like a pro! Legacy loops around for about a minute and a half until she is gone from our view. Legacy missed two fish deliveries this afternoon - Gabby waited on the nest with a fish for half an hour before eating it and then Samson brought a fish and Gabby ate that one too. Legacy did not return to the nest and has not been seen tonight - Gabby & Samson are in the Lumberyard tree. I hope that we will see Legacy in the morning and that this was not goodbye! Stay safe Legacy!! Thank you for watching!

A Sunset Visit by Gabrielle ~ Sept 4, 2021

Quiet Eagle
At Sunset Gabrielle flies to the nest. She checks it out and does a little fixing up. Then she lays down and after a quick stop on one of the branches she takes off. It's early to begin full scale nest work. She and Samson will be doing that a bit later in the Fall.

Tas, kurš ir atgriezies, ir Samsons, bet nav pārliecības, ka Gabija ir atgriezusies. Jo jāredz abus ērgļus kopā, lai varētu salīdzināt. Abi ērgļi ir jauni, kļus 8 gadus veci šajā sezonā, un viņu spalvas un knābji turpina mainīt krāsu nianses.

American Eagle Foundation LIVE Nest Cams -
The eagle at the nest on Sept 7th was Samson as identified by the cam ops. We know that Samson is back in the area. We are not 100% sure yet that Gabrielle has returned. We need to see both eagles together to update our identification markers on them. They are young eagles - turning 8 this coming season and continue to display changing coloration to feathers and beaks for their first few adult years. Most of our ID markers for the two of them have relied on feather and beak differences, with the exception of Samson's toe. We noted definite feather changes last season. Since the majority of their molt occurs during the summer months we don't get a change to see those changes as they occur. As we have gone back and studied all of the clips taken by the cam ops, and the fact that the two of them have not been seen together either at the nest or at their favorite roost - the LY - we will err on the side of caution before declaring that Gabrielle has returned to the area. She did not return until Sept 12th in 2019, so we expect to see her soon! Thank you for watching!
