Watch as Aukele, the male on nest #1, checks on his pipping egg. The egg has not hatched yet, but you can see the chick's tiny bill poking through the pip in the shell.
The first chick of the 2018 season has arrived on the Kauai Laysan Albatross Cam! After hatching from its egg on January 28, the downy hatchling received one of its first meals of stomach oil from its father, Manawanui. The young bird was named Moikeha (Mo`ikeha in Hawaiian, pronounced Mo-ee-kay-ha) after the most famous navigator in traditional Hawaiian legends.
