Dyfi Osprey Project
October 27, 2012
For the last four years Monty has had a favourite perch, high up on the south side of the Dyfi River. He's used it less during the last two years, as he's had family chores to take care of. He still perches here though, especially at the end of the season in August and September.
I went up there today while the weather was good to see why Monty likes it so much. In 2009 and 2010 he used this perch often, scanning the Dyfi River to see if any females flew by. On April 9th last year, one did of course, and stayed. Ospreys have between four and six times the optical resolution than humans have - he would have picked up Nora in no time. What a view.
