Pavisam neveiksmīga diena albatrosēnam. Vecāki barot nelido,visu dienu staigā pīkstēdams,bet cilvēki gan ierodas .Ja nebūtu aizsvīdusi kamera ,tad varbūt varētu redzēt gredzenu mūsu pūkainītim.Jādomā,ka sevišķi droši par mazuļa aizlidošanas laiku viņi nav,ja jau apgredzenoja Tumanako.

Afternoon everyone, sorry we weren't able to give you a warning about Tūmanako getting banded. Things are a bit hectic at Taiaroa Head, with the Royal Albatross Centre still closed. We had another water taxi ride to the colony today. The diggers are busy clearing the road but it is still closed. The weather held nicely so we made the decision to band the birds.

This year the chicks were banded with a blue band on their left leg. Each band was numbered from 1 - 23 to account for the 23 chicks. On their right leg, they were banded with a stainless steel band with a unique 5 digit number.
Tūmanako is banded blue 8 on its left leg and R - 61331 on its right leg.
Toroa’s chick is banded blue 13 on its left leg and R - 61329 on its right leg
Foster chick at Rushes nest is banded blue 7 on its left leg and R – 50182 on its right leg.
The R is for the size of the stainless steel band.
