Kia ora koutou (hello everyone)
The 2025 Royalcam chick.
Weigh day or how big was that feed from GLG.
Since hatching at 286g on the 28th of January, the Signal Station Trig chick has grown to 6.4 kg on day 147 (Tuesday 24th of June 11.14am). This is a 1kg decrease on Saturday’s weight, which is understandable has she hadn’t been fed since then. But before she could be supplementary fed, GLG arrived in.
As the weight was very low prior to GLG feeding she was reweighed as is now at 8kg, average for a female of 147 days and a feed of 1.6kg! Thanks, GLG!

Comparisons of average male and female chick weights and all the past Royalcam chicks are included. Rangers use weight data to determine when a chick requires feeding intervention.
Read about the Rangers work for royal albatross here: https://www.doc.govt.nz/nature/native-a ... albatross/ this work ensures that we fledge more chicks than would have naturally occurred without intervention.
