September 12: rain stopped and Lady spent most of last night beside the chicks on the nest, waking early with a duet and off before 6am. When Dad came in with prey –I think a gull –she was quick to claim it and feed -35 first, then 36 did very well too. The nestlings rested together on a warmer dry morning, with occasional tussles –it’s getting crowded there together. Around 11am Dad came to the nest, grabbed a scrap, disappointing 35. They then both continued resting in the sun until Lady brought in a dark bird –feeding them both. They are picking things up in the bowl and moving around more. Late afternoon, a fish feed with the bream Dad brought –and both ate well again. They were well settled at dark.

12. septembrī: lietus mitējās, un Lēdija lielāko daļu iepriekšējās nakts pavadīja blakus mazuļiem ligzdā, agri mostoties ar duetu un aizlidojot pirms pulksten 6:00. Kad tētis ieradās ar medījumu – domāju, ka kaiju –, viņa ātri to paņēma un vispirms pabaroja -se 35 mazuli, pēc tam arī se36 mazulim veicās ļoti labi. Mazuļi atpūtās kopā siltākā, sausā rītā, ik pa laikam cīnoties – tur sāk drūzmēties. Ap pulksten 11:00 tētis ieradās ligzdā, paķēra gabaliņu. Tad viņi abi turpināja atpūsties saulē, līdz Lēdija atnesa tumšu putnu – barojot viņus abus. Viņi jau vairāk pārvietojas pa ligzdu. Vēlā pēcpusdienā viņi saņēma zivju barību breksi, ko atnesa tētis – un abi atkal labi paēda. Tumsā tie bija labi iekārtojušies.

13.septembris

Skaista saulaina diena +21 grādi

September 13: a sunny morning, though chilly and Lady moved closer to the chicks early, after sleeping beside them last night. She was off early, then back as Dad brought in a small bream just before 7am. Both ate well, peacefully. Dad was seen then later down on River Roost and Lady calling nearby at Ironbark Roost in the forest. She returned around 10am and was digging in the bowl aerating the nest – and dropping bits on the young. SE35 was digging around too – helping? She then tried to cover them – not much room – then off after 30 minutes. They were alone on the nest most of the day, with parents coming in a few times – chicks hopeful. Another fish was brought by Dad at 16:36 – then fed by Lady, both ate and it didn’t last long. Dad made several deliveries of fresh leaves during the day. Late in the day Lady came in to the nest and settled by her young.

13. septembris: saulains rīts, lai arī vēss, un Lēdija agri pietuvojās mazuļiem pēc tam, kad iepriekšējā naktī bija gulējusi tiem blakus. Viņa agri devās ceļā un atgriezās, jo tētis īsi pirms pulksten 7:00 no rīta atnesa nelielu plaudi. Abi mierīgi un labi ēda. Tēti vēlāk redzēja pie Rūstas upes, bet Lēdiju - netālu, mežā, pie Dzelzs mizas Rūstas. Viņa atgriezās ap pulksten 10:00 no rīta un rakās ligzdas bļodā, aerējot to un mētāja mazuļus ar sīkām dāvanām. Arī SE35 rakās apkārt - vai tas palīdzēja? Tad viņa mēģināja tos nosegt - nebija daudz vietas - un pēc 30 minūtēm devās prom. Lielāko dienas daļu viņi bija vieni uz ligzdas, vecāki dažas reizes ieradās - mazuļi cerīgi. Vēl vienu zivi tētis atnesa pulksten 16:36 - tad Lēdija to pabaroja, abi ēda, un tas ilgi neturpinājās. Tētis dienas laikā vairākas reizes piegādāja svaigas lapas. Vēlāk dienā Lēdija ienāca ligzdā un apmetās pie saviem mazuļiem.

14.septembris

September 14: another fine day. Last night Lady slept on the rim of the nest, or just by them – disturbed at one stage by the possum passing. Early duets and she was off, returning after 6am and trying to settle in the bowl with the nestlings – but off again a after a short time. When Dad brought in a gull carcass at 7:50 she grabbed it and fed them both –for an hour. Dad came in and took off some of the scraps, with Lady very protective. He fed 36 a couple of bites, then Lady came in again and fed them a little more – protecting the food from him. Then Dad returned and fed them a little himself – and more when Lady took over and fed 35, then 36 – a massive feed session. As the nest warmed up, chicks were panting – full crops too. They rested , sprawled out in the nest at times and moving to shade when they could. Dad came in a couple of times and took off a scrap of bone. Late afternoon, Dad came with a whiting, claimed and fed by Lady, to 35 first, both ate – full and peaceful at end of day.

14. septembris: vēl viena jauka diena. Pagājušajā naktī Ladija gulēja uz ligzdas malas vai vienkārši blakus tai – vienā brīdī viņu iztraucēja garāmskrejošs oposums. Agri atskanēja dueti, un viņa devās prom, atgriezās pēc pulksten 6:00 no rīta un mēģināja iekārtoties bļodā ar mazuļiem, bet pēc neilga laika atkal devās prom. Kad tētis pulksten 7:50 atnesa kaijas līķi, viņa to paķēra un baroja abus – stundu. Tētis ienāca un noplēsa dažus atlikumus, Ladijai esot ļoti aizsargājošai. Viņš pabaroja se36 ar pāris kumosiem, tad Lēdija atkal ienāca un pabaroja viņus vēl nedaudz, sargājot barību no viņa. Tad tētis atgriezās un pats tos nedaudz pabaroja – un vēl vairāk, kad Lēdija pārņēma vadību un pabaroja se 35, tad se36 – pamatīga barošanas sesija. Ligzdai sasilstot, cāļi elsoja no karstuma\ Tie atpūtās, dažreiz izstiepās ligzdā un, kad varēja, devās ēnā. Tētis pāris reizes ienāca un noplēsa kaula gabaliņu. Vēlā pēcpusdienā tētis atnesa mencu, ko lēdija paņēma un pabaroja, vispirms se 35, tad se36 abi paēda – dienas beigās paēduši un mierīgi.

15.septembris

September 15: Lady spent most of the night on the nest rim, coming in very early to the bowl then away. She returned as Dad brought in a Red Rock Cod at 6:15, claimed and fed it to both chicks. Both chicks are calling now as the food comes in. A very warm day then, with both of them moving to shade when they can. Parents were in and out a few times, with leaves – or nearby – but chicks mainly alone. Lady came in at last light, but no more prey- until just after 6pm, he brought a fish . Lady then fed them both, before settling for the night

15. septembris: Lēdija lielāko daļu nakts pavadīja uz ligzdas malas, ļoti agri ierodoties bļodā un pēc tam prom. Viņa atgriezās, kad tētis pulksten 6:15 atnesa sarkano klinšu mencu, paņēma to un pabaroja ar to abus mazuļus. Tagad abi mazuļi sauc, kad parādās barība. Šodien bija ļoti silta diena, abi mazuļi devās ēnā, kad vien varēja. Vecāki vairākas reizes bija iekšā un ārā, ar lapām – vai to tuvumā –, bet mazuļi galvenokārt vieni. Lēdija beidzot ieradās, kad ausa gaisma, bet vairs nebija medījuma – līdz brīdim, kad nedaudz pēc pulksten 18:00 viņš atnesa zivi. Tad Lēdija pabaroja viņus abus, pirms apmetās uz nakti.

16.septembris

September 16: Lady slept on the rim last night, off very early, then duets, with the nestlings joining in. Dad came and started feeding SE35 a fish scrap early, offered a bit to Lady, then she took over – though not much left there. Waiting all morning until Dad brought a gull chick just after 2pm, on a windy afternoon. Lady claimed it and fed both, 35 getting most. 36 has been venturing right to the nest rim then safely back in the bowl. Both are calling on the nest now –begging for food or attention. They were waiting then all afternoon, Lady coming to the nest just before 6pm, no food there, then away again to the perch branch- and back to the bowl, setting by them on the nest. Will there be a late prey delivery again?

16. septembris: Lady nakti pavadīja uz ligzdas malas, aizlidoja ļoti agri, pēc tam dziedāja duetā, pievienojās arī mazuļi. Tētis ieradās un sāka barot SE35 ar zivju gabaliņu, piedāvāja mazliet arī Lady, bet viņa pārņēma barošanu – gan jau tur daudz nebija palicis. Visa rīta laikā gaidīja, līdz tētis ap 14:00 atnesa kaijas cālīti vējainā pēcpusdienā. Lady to pieprasīja un baroja abus, SE35 dabūja lielāko daļu. SE36 drosmīgi devās līdz ligzdas malai, tad droši atgriezās atpakaļ ligzdas centrā. Viņi gaidīja visu pēcpusdienu, Lady atgriezās ligzdā tieši pirms 18:00, ēdiena nebija, tad aizlidoja uz zaru un atkal atgriezās ligzdā, apsēdās pie mazuļiem. Vai būs vēl viens vēls medījuma piegādājums?

Dad and Lady both brought in leaves, then just after 6am, Dad came with a fish. Lady fed them both though 36 was quite submissive and only ate a little. Later both were nibbling at bits in the bowl, looking for scraps-as well as grooming and working at their itchy new feathers. Eagles were seen later down on the river and on Ironbark Roost. A good day for prey – with Dad bringing in two fish and Lady one too. Eaglets were both satisfied and fed well with 4 feeds before 4pm. Lady then moved beside them on the nest a couple of times during the afternoon. Dad was seen down on River roost during the afternoon. At last light both parents were nearby – any more action? At last light Lady joined them o the nest and settled beside them.

Ērgļu ligzdas dienasgrāmata – 17. septembris

Mamma daļu nakts pavadīja uz tuvējā zara, bet atgriezās ligzdas iedobē pēc tam, kad garām pagāja oposums. Viņa devās prom agri, un abi mazuļi dienu sāka ar saviem rīta duetiem. Tēvs un mamma atnesa ligzdā lapas, un nedaudz pēc sešiem no rīta Tēvs ieradās ar zivi. Lady baroja abus, lai gan se 36 bija diezgan pakļāvīgs un apēda tikai nedaudz.

Vēlāk abi mazuļi knibinājās pa ligzdu, meklējot pārpalikumus, kā arī kopjot sevi un rūpējoties par niezošajām jaunajām spalvām. Dienas gaitā pie upes un Ironbark Roost tika novēroti pieaugušie ērgļi. Tā bija veiksmīga diena medībām – Tēvs atnesa divas zivis, Lady vienu, un mazuļi tika labi pabaroti ar četrām ēdienreizēm līdz plkst. 16:00.

Pēcpusdienā Lady vairākas reizes apsēdās blakus mazuļiem ligzdā, kamēr Tēvs tika novērots pie upes. Krēslā abi vecāki bija tuvumā, un dienas noslēgumā Lady pievienojās mazuļiem ligzdā un apmetās blakus tiem.

18.septembris

September 18: Lady slept beside them on the nest last night with an early duet before 6am and parents were away – Dad seen down on the river and Lady at ironbark roost. At 5 weeks, both nestlings are now doing well, with SE35’s feather development more advanced and still more dominant. They were waiting on the nest all day – and Dad came in finally with a leatherjacket at 15:37 – but only 35 ate. Both ate better later in the evening from the bream Dad brought in at 5:30 . Lady settled over them about an hour late

18. septembris: Māte pagājušajā naktī gulēja blakus ligzdā, agri no rīta vecāki bija prom – tētis redzēts lejā pie upes, bet Māte – pie dzelzs mizas ligzdas. Piecu nedēļu vecumā abiem mazuļiem klājas labi, SE35 spalvu attīstība ir attīstītāka un tie joprojām ir dominējošāki. Viņi visu dienu gaidīja ligzdā, un tētis beidzot ieradās ar ādas jaku pulksten 15:37, bet paēda tikai 35. Abi labāk ēda vēlāk vakarā no plaužiem, ko tētis atnesa pulksten 17:30. Māte apmetās virs viņiem apmēram stundu vēlāk.

19.septembris

Sept 19 : Lady slept on the rim last night then awake early with a duet. The nestlings fiddled and played, until there was as early delivery – a gull chick. Lady fed them both, 35 first as usual though both ate. Lady finally fed them a little foot and leg, breaking it up smaller first. The nestlings are picking at twigs and sticks and looking for scraps in the bowl now. Later, just after 4pm Lady came in with leaves as Dad flew in with another gull chick –and both were fed. SE26 struggling to swallow both tricky feet – then Lady was helping and eating one herself. She returned at last light then roosting nearby.

19. septembris: Lēdija pagājušajā naktī gulēja uz ligzdas malas un pamodās agri ar duetu. Mazuļi spēlējās un muzicēja, līdz atnests tika kaijas mazulis. Lēdija pabaroja abus, kā parasti, vispirms se 35, lai gan abi ēda. Lēdija beidzot pabaroja tos ar nelielu pēdiņu un kājiņu, vispirms sadalot to mazākos gabaliņos. Mazuļi tagad plūc zariņus un zariņus un meklē atliekas bļodā. Vēlāk, nedaudz pēc pulksten 16:00, Lēdija ienāca ar lapām, kamēr tētis ielidoja ar citu kaijas mazuli, un abi bija paēduši. SE36 cīnījās, lai norītu abas pēdiņas, un tad Lēdija pati palīdzēja un apēda vienu. Viņa atgriezās beidzot, kad ausa gaisma, un tad nakšņoja netālu.

20.septembris

September 20: After an early start Dad brought in a gull chick at 6:30 and another early afternoon. Both nestlings ate, with SE36 standing back some of the time –as is usual. Just after 3pm Lady brought in a small fish and both ate, though it didn’t last long. SE36 did very well and both had full crops. It was a windy afternoon. Late afternoon Lady bought another small whiting in – 36 was first to the fish –with a full crop already. Both ate, though 36 ate more this time. A good day for prey and feeds.

Ērgļu ligzdas dienasgrāmata – 20. septembris

Diena sākās agri – Tēvs jau 6:30 no rīta atnesa kaijas cālēnu, un vēl vienu pēcpusdienā. Abi mazuļi ēda, lai gan SE36 kā ierasts dažkārt palika malā. Nedaudz pēc plkst. 15:00 Lady atnesa nelielu zivi, un abi mazuļi to apēda, lai gan tā ātri pazuda. SE36 šoreiz darbojās veikli, un abiem bija pilnas guzas.
Pēcpusdiena bija vējaina. Vēlā pēcpusdienā Lady atnesa vēl vienu nelielu zivi – SE36 bija pirmais pie ēdiena, lai gan jau ar pilnu guzu. Abi ēda, bet šoreiz SE36 apēda vairāk. Kopumā – laba diena medībām un barošanai.

21.septembris

September 21: a lovely sunny day. Last evening, Dad brought in a last prey offering, another young gull and Lady fed them, though 35 ate most. SE36 found a last scrap itself. Lady spent most of the night beside them on the nest rim. A quiet morning until Lady herself brought in a young gull. 36 did quite well this feed. Both are picking at things in the nest. Then late afternoon Dad brought part of a fish, having already eaten himself. He fed them a little first, then Lady took over until all was gone. As the eagles called, the youngsters joined in too at end of day. Both settled nearby.

Ērgļu ligzdas dienasgrāmata – 21. septembris

Skaista, saulaina diena. Iepriekšējā vakarā Tēvs atnesa pēdējo medījumu – vēl vienu jaunu kaiju, un Lady baroja mazuļus, lai gan se 35 apēda lielāko daļu. SE36 pats atrada pēdējo pārpalikumu. Lady lielāko nakts daļu pavadīja blakus mazuļiem uz ligzdas malas.
Rīts bija mierīgs, līdz Lady pati atnesa jaunu kaiju. SE36 šajā barošanas reizē darbojās veiksmīgi. Abi mazuļi knibinājās pa ligzdu, meklējot ko ēdamu. Vēlā pēcpusdienā Tēvs atnesa daļu no zivs, pats jau paēdis. Viņš sākumā mazliet pabaroja mazuļus, pēc tam Lady pārņēma barošanu, līdz viss bija apēsts.
Dienas noslēgumā, kad ērgļi sauca, mazuļi pievienojās viņu balsīm. Abi apmetās tuvumā, gatavi nakts mieram.

22.septembris

September 22: Lady was beside the nestlings at night then awake with a very early duet. Lady brought the first fish prey in at 9:47 She fed her fish to both. 36 got more as 35 was holding back much of the time. She brought a bird in the early afternoon and fed both with 36 quickly up to start being fed first. She was the provider today, bringing a juvenile gull later just before 3pm. She fed a few bites, then some plucking, a few more bites, then took it off to pluck some more. When she returned both ate and had good crops especially 36. Late afternoon there was rain and a threatened storm – Lady covering them as well as she could. The rain did not last long and later she was settled by them for the night.

Ērgļu ligzdas dienasgrāmata – 22. septembris

Lady nakti pavadīja blakus mazuļiem uz ligzdas malas, bet agri no rīta pamodās ar duetu. Pirmo zivi viņa atnesa plkst. 9:47 un pabaroja abus. SE36 saņēma vairāk, jo SE35 lielāko daļu laika turējās malā.
Agrā pēcpusdienā Lady atnesa putnu un pabaroja abus, SE36 ātri nostājās priekšā, lai sāktu ēst pirmais. Šodien Lady bija galvenā medniece – nedaudz pirms plkst. 15:00 viņa atnesa jaunu kaiju. Viņa iedeva dažus kumosus, tad sāka plūkt, atkal pabaroja, un pēc tam aiznesa to, lai turpinātu plūkšanu. Kad viņa atgriezās, abi mazuļi ēda, un guzas bija labi piepildītas – īpaši SE36.
Vēlā pēcpusdienā uznāca lietus un draudēja vētra – Lady centās mazuļus pasargāt, cik vien labi spēja. Lietus nebija ilgs, un vēlāk viņa apmetās blakus mazuļiem uz nakti.
