Tuesday afternoon - such a lot has happened and we are having sightings from time to time. Sunday afternoon, Chris, Rohan and I, joined by Neil, found SE27 on the ground, just outside the forest area. Swooping by other birds as we have seen all the time.
This morning, one juvenile was seen in the saltmarsh area and wetland called Main Lagoon - photo to come. This was possibly SE28, hopefully to be confirmed. This area is quite close to the river and not far from the favourite roost spot for our adults., RR. Also one was seen in the forest area and just outside the fence, by Dave, one of the Landscape contractors. This was probably SE27 as well and was quite close to the area where we saw it the other day. Dave reported it flew off strongly.
Hopefully the juveniles have been sighted and heard by the parents and maybe food has been brought.
So we are not sure yet if we have confirmed sightings of both birds or if they have been fed.
This is probably quite normal for newly fledged birds that have strayed from home, their nest area. The protected areas are extensive and we hope the juveniles will be well protected there until they gain strength and experience. We may even see them down on the river with the parents.
15:45 - one adult just brought prey to the nest - and left straight away.

14.10. Jaunu ziņu no ērglēniem nav..Lēdija atlido ar milzu zivi.Pati nedaudz paskrubināja un atstāja ligzdā...ja nu kāds no bērniem atgriezīsies uz ligzdu. Ņamma būs garantēta

Tikko kā es 13:58 devos upes virzienā, dāma pārlidoja pāri upei ar zivi. Viņa vairākas reizes riņķoja pāri upei un drusku purvam. Es pazaudēju viņu no redzesloka, kad viņa devās meža virzienā. No ligzdas kameras, es zinu, ka viņa aiznesa zivi uz ligzdu, ierodoties 14:01. Zivi atstāja ligzdā . Pēcpusdienā vairākas reizes riņķojusi pa teritoriju.

This afternoon at approx 5pm, I was riding my bike on Olympic Blvd near The Locker Room, I saw a Sea Eagle lying on the road. Initially I thought it had been hit by a car. However after a few minutes it came too. Obviously stunned, it took a breather and flew away. Immediately it was attacked by Currawong birds??. The eagle was hit in the head by the attackers and landed near The Locker Room. Luckily we were able to notify a Ranger nearby. He was able to capture the eagle by throwing a towel over his head and took it to safety. I am not sure if the eagle has survived.

We are very fortunate that the ranger who captured the juvenile was experienced in handling animals. They contacted me and the eaglet has been taken for veterinary care and assessment. We believe this is SE27 who may have become "lost" flying away from the wetlands and becoming confused. It is probably dehydrated but will receive all necessary care and assessment. We shall let you all know when we have any news.

1st November, 2021 - UPDATE on SE27. Below is a brief update from NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service regarding SE27.

Eagle cam

5th November, 2021 - Latest SE27 update:
SE27 is doing well, gaining strength and is feeding by itself. It has moved to a larger raptor cage to allow it to exercise and recover.
The treating vets have advised that SE27 will be in care for a few weeks while it recovers and will be released back into the wild as soon as it's well enough. Healing takes time so please be patient. Updates will follow when possible. BTW, we hear fish and mice have been on the menu!
It is unlikely any photos will be issued while in captivity.
There are no reported sightings of SE28

2021. gada 5. novembris - jaunumi par SE27:
SE27 klājas labi, uzkrāj spēkus un barojas pats no sevis. Tas ir pārcēlies uz lielāku raptor būri, lai ļautu tam sportot un atjaunoties.
Ārstējošie veterinārārsti ir ieteikuši, ka SE27 būs aprūpē dažas nedēļas, kamēr tas atveseļosies, un tiks izlaists atpakaļ savvaļā, tiklīdz tas būs pietiekami labi. Dziedināšana prasa laiku, tāpēc, lūdzu, esiet pacietīgi. Jaunumi sekos, kad tas būs iespējams. Starp citu, mēs dzirdam, ka zivis un peles ir bijušas ēdienkartē!
Maz ticams, ka kāds foto tiks izdots, atrodoties nebrīvē.
