For the first time ever cutting edge technology and nature come together and broadcasted live!

During the past couple of weeks, we have been using high tech drones in order to replace K70 - the female Griffon Vulture that died. The drones drop food for the orphaned chick every 2-3 days while daddy Vulture does not give up and persists in taking care of its offspring.

Daddy Vulture (T99) is now used to the presence of the drone and while keeping a watchful eye, keeps feeding his 113 day old chick, truly amazing!
As you recall the Israel Raptor Nestcam team and the Nature and Parks Authority simply could not "give up" on the chick that lost its mother. When we understood that K-70 had died from hitting a power line and knowing that the father (T99) will not be able to tend the chick alone, we gathered to think of a solution. One of the options was to see if a specialized drone can be used to deliver protein rich food to the nest. Since this innovative solution was never actually tested in the field our team approached XTEND - a company that specializes in cutting edge drone technologies for "special missions".
The next step was to join forces with a classified IDF unit that volunteered to tackle the job. Everyone involved understood the importance of the mission and donated their time for the sake of saving the chick.

We truly hope that this new and innovative idea the chick will have enough food to pass the remaining time till it is time for it to fledge successfully.
