Ears/Hearing…
Where are the ears on an eagle located?
Like all birds, eagles do not have external ears like we do.
An eagle’s ear is not visible, but hidden behind the feathers on the side of their head.
They are located behind and slightly below the eyes.
How well can eagles hear?
Bald eagles are diurnal birds (those active mainly during daylight hours) and have hearing about equal to that of humans. Nocturnal birds (those active mainly at night) have much more sensitive hearing.
Every once in a while, I have been able to get a glimpse of E4’s ears. Have you been able to see them too? I have not been able to get a good screen capture of E4’s ears, so here are a couple of pictures that show the ears of an eaglet and adult.
