Ziņas par ligzdu

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonelli%27s_eagle

We are on day 41 from the moment the first egg was laid and 33 days from the moment the eagles started hatching continuously. Therefore, remind you that if the eggs are fertile and normal then the first hatching is supposed to occur somewhere between 12.2.22 and 20.2.22. That is, 42 ~ days of incubation. Depends on where you count from.

24.februāris

Pirms pusotra mēneša tika nolemts no ligzdas izņemt ērgļu olas un pārvietot tās mākslīgā vidē.
Un kāpēc to darīja?

Israel Raptor Nest Cam -
We got the eagles eggs out of the nest and hope to give them adopted chicks in the next few days
A month and a half ago, it was decided to surf to the eagles' nest in order to "extract" the eggs of the eagles from the nest and move them to artificial setting.
And why did we do that?
First we will remind you that the Nazi eagle is defined as a critically endangered species (CR) in Israel. The nesting population in Israel has shrunk significantly since the establishment of the state of Israel. israel With the establishment of the state we still nested in Israel more than 60 couples in all the distressed spaces, from the Hermon and to the mountains of Eilat. However, it is now estimated that in Israel only between 12 and 20 pairs nest. Therefore, many efforts are invested (led by the Nature and Gardens Authority and other framework) in order to preserve this population (breeding seeds, returns to nature, active interface and nest protection etc etc).
Secondly, we remind you that the pair of eagles laid their first egg on 1.1.22, the second on 4.1.22 and the third on 7.1.22. But, during the first nine days they hardly set foot on the eggs and every night left them exposed to the cold.
It was not clear to us why they acted this way but it was clear that such a long period of time without incubation could harm the precious eggs of the rare eagles. A population in which every egg is necessary and important for the future of this population.
So in the first days after the impositions we followed with concern this problematic behavior and after a discussion between the partners, led by RTG personnel Ohad Hatzofe and Ygal Miller, Guy Cohen, Matan Morad and Amos Sabah, it was decided that we must intervene, and this is for a few reasons:
1. As stated, this species is seriously endangered and according to a scientific demographic model made in the last year (by Assaf Miroz and Ofer Steinitz) it arises that if an active nature conservation interface is not implemented (returning to nature, nest conservation etc.) the species may become extinct as a nest in Israel.
2. In 2021 this pair of eagles spent 50-60 days on the eggs until we abandoned them. They then threw a reserve laying in a nearby nest and again completed 50-60 days without the eggs hatching. That is, it seems there is an environmental/hormonal/health problem that we are unaware of and requires intervention/help from us.
3. The eagles have hardly laid a foot on the eggs since they were laid. The problems are clear and stated above.
4. There is a camera broadcasting 24/7 and warning about a problem we wouldn't have known existed.
5. If the eagles do not hatch properly, then the eggs can be extracted from the nest, transfer them to artificial setting in the Carmel Valley and return to healthy chicks, when they hatch. Similar interventions have been made in the past.
So that's exactly what we did.
After a deep discussion and weighing all the possibilities, it was decided to surf to the nest on 10.1.22 and move the eggs to artificial setting at the Bar Carmel Animal Reserve - the Nature and Gardens Authority by a professional team that will look after the eggs until they hatch.
But, how do you prevent abandoning the nest after the eggs are taken?
They put plaster dummy eggs. Yes. Plaster eggs are laid in exactly the same size/weight/shape.
Walter Neser was entrusted with this delicate work who professionally surfed into the nest, carefully put the eggs into a protected box and in their place placed blood eggs in the eagles' nest.
And then, as soon as the process was over, everyone hurried up and left the territory hoping that the eagles will return to stab as soon as possible. And much to our joy, they returned to stab. The truth is that since then they have also returned to stabbing "as needed". Almost without leaving the cast eggs.
On 16.1.22 we received an update from Ygal Miller that all three eggs are normal and that all three of them began to develop normal fetal. We breathed well and started to count the days until their intended hatching and the return of the chicks to their parents. Except on 10.2.22 we received another update but this time it was a sad update. It turned out that the development of the three eggs stopped suddenly, while they were framed in artificial frames. The eggs were sent for laboratory testing and it turned out that all three of them were infected with the Mycoplasma bacteria that also causes transmitted and transmitted injury from the mother to the egg.
However, not at all certain that this is the exclusive cause of their mortality. The assumption is that the problematic incitement in the first week also contributed to their mortality. Apparently.
But, since we realized that the original eggs were lost. It was also decided to wait and see if chicks of eagles will hatch in the breeding seed in the Bar Carmel Chai Nature Reserve - the Nature and Gardens Authority in order to immerse them in the nest and hope that they will be adopted by the pair of eagles. This, from the understanding that the survival chances of a chick that has bloomed in the wild are greater than the survival chances for a chick that has grown in the seed of reproduction and released into the wild as a young.
So now, just today (24.2.22), we received an apricot update that two chicks have begun to hatch in the breeding seed and that they can be embedded in the nest in a few days.
Except here the challenge and the tension never ends...
First, the eagles hatch for 54 days (on dummy eggs) although the incubation range is 42~ days for each egg. So we hope they continue to breed until we arrive with the chicks.
Secondly, we hope that they will return to the nest after the chicks are implanting and that they will adopt the young chicks and take care of them until their successful hatching.
So in short, cross your fingers/pray that the whole process will go smoothly and that the active interface shared above will prove itself and help preserve and dry the population of this rare and wonderful species.
In conclusion, we sit back and note that all conservation efforts are being done with the support of "Wing Out" and the Open Lands Foundation and is carried out by a broad team of precious and determined people who are working very hard to preserve endangered rare populations. All this, also so that our grandchildren will be able to see run-ins in general and sparrowing eagles in particular multiply and live throughout the world.. israel

Amazing! A pair of eagles adopted two chicks that hatched in the breeding seed!
We are excited to announce that yesterday (26.2.22) a complex operation was completed in which a pair of hatched eagles were brought two tiny chicks that hatched in the breeding seed in the Bar Carmel Nature Reserve - the Nature and Gardens Authority. The chicks were "adopted" smoothly and quickly by the pair of eagles and are already receiving natural food hunted by their foster parents.
The purpose of the operation is to allow natural parental breeding of chicks that hatched in the breeding seed by a pair of "dark offspring" eagles. This, from the experience gained that such a growth raises the chances of survival of the chicks, compared to artificial growth in the breeding seeds.
Nature is strong! There are no words!
...
The professional Walter Neser surfed into the nest professionally and quickly, gently placed the two tiny chicks in the nest (with eggshells) and hurried to disconnect contact and connect to the gathering point far from the nest. By the way, the whole process lasted only 5 minutes.
And then, after half an hour the female eagle returned to the nest and suddenly discovered two tiny chicks 🙂 exactly where it ended 56 days (~14 days above the average incubation)! A long and tedious incitement, without the cameras and the active intervention would have led to a certain failure.
It was touching to tears to see her staring at the tiny chicks for 2-3 seconds and immediately turning to her caretaker from the cold and feeding them with impressive delicacy as if these were her natural offspring.
May we all rest in peace. The adopted chicks were received in a smooth and exciting way 🙂
We all hope that the pair of eagles will be able to hatch the adopted chicks successfully and that the so-called active interface will prove itself and will help preserve and dry the population of this rare and wonderful species.
The Israel Raptor Nest Cam - Live Raptor Birds team is proud to be part of the preservation efforts in Israel, especially when it comes to endangered species and exciting stories like this one. With the help of the online cameras, and the intimate tracking they provide, we were able to assess that the pair of eagles are going to fail in the nest and give them two chicks for adoption from the breeding seed of the Nature and Gardens Authority. Thus, the online cameras prove to us again that reproduction in the Israeli nature is saturated with difficulties and teachers but nevertheless, the cameras also provide us with a rare window of opportunity for implementing an active nature conservation interface in extreme situations that require intervention.
These conservation efforts are being supported by Wingwingers and Open Lands Foundation and are run by a broad team of skilled and determined people who are working extremely hard to protect endangered rare populations. All this, so that our grandchildren will also be able to see run-downs and sparrows in particular multiply and live throughout the world. israel

Un kāpēc viņš to dara?

How exciting is this!
So exciting…English below
As you may remember, on 26.2.22 two baby eagles (now 6-7 days old) were implanted that hatched in the breeding seed in Bahi-Bar Carmel after it turned out that their parents were "dark offsprings" and would fail in the nest.
So firstly, excited to see (and every time) how the chicks have been fully adopted by their stepparents who hunt for them an impressive variety of mini prey (fruit wraps, doggos, doves, rock rabbits and a number of unidentified species).
But there is also a small fear...
The fear is that one of them will be injured or even die because of the aggressive stabbing they make at each other. The truth is that the big chick is the one that pokes on his little brother and "steal" his food.
And why does he do that?
This is a known phenomenon among sexual predators and is caused by the chicks hatching "non-synchronically" (within 1-3 days of each other). "A-synchronous hatching" causes differences in size and strength between chicks and is compatible when food is not available in abundance, and may also lead to the phenomenon of "sibling killing" - "keninism" when the adult chicks poke their young siblings to death. In such a case, the little chick will die at the beginning of the nest and no food will be "wasted" on it, this is contrary to synchronous hatching and there is no difference in size and strength between the chicks.
In short, we follow with fear but optimistic that the little one will hold on.
He is not a sucker after all! Covering the chick of a Nitzi Eagle!
And what is the division of roles between the spouses?
So while the female is the dominant guardian and feeder but the male also feeds his adopted chicks 😊.
Anyway, it seems that the hunter's work is "on his wings". Almost to the fullest extent.
Adoption is live! A piece of excitement!

Fear for the life of a chick a Nitzi!
The chicks are growing and eating well (22-24 days old) and even the feathers have already started to bump on their bodies.
But, unfortunately, one of the two chicks has shown in the last two days signs of sticking to the Trichomonas gallinea.
Usually, the trichomonas parasite takes over the supreme digestive tract and even blocks the muzzle and the source until the chick dies of hunger and suffocating. The pathologizing is through the food of the chicks. Mostly through direct sticking from home (almost daily intersections) or through the hole itself (if it's a carrier).
In short, we follow with fear and weigh our next steps.

We took one chick out of the nest 🙁
As you remember, in the last days we followed with a concern for one of the Nietzsche's gallinea pigs that showed signs of clashes in the "Trichomonas gallinea" table.
Since Trichomons were a deadly parrot, yesterday morning (18.3.22) we decided to surf into the nest and check how the chicks are doing.
Yesterday at noon, Ygal Miller and Walter Neser were already represented for the mission along with Elad Zisso and Amos Sabah.
When Walter Neser surfaced the nest professionally and gently he immediately saw that Chick A is in advanced stages of trichomonus adhesive and Chick B is in early stages.
Thus, it was decided to take chick A to בית חולים לחיות בר - The Israeli Wildlife Hospital so that it can receive life-saving treatment and even try and return it to the nest when it is recovered. Chick B received a life saving medicine in its nest.
As you remember, usually the trichomonas parasol takes over the upper digestive tract and even blocks the muzzle and the source until the chick dies of starvation and suffocating. The pathologizing is through the food of the chicks. Mostly through direct sticking from home (almost daily intersections) or through the hole itself (if it's a carrier).
So we all wish chick A to recover quickly and return as soon as possible to his adopted parents in the wild israel
Will be updated....
Israeli nature. Never ending dramas 🙁

Fat and healthy chick 🙂
First, we'll update that the eagle chick that was snatched from the eagle's nest last Friday (due to trichomone paralysis) is recovering nicely at בית חולים לחיות בר - The Israeli Wildlife Hospital and may already be returned to her foster parents in a week or two.
And what about the other little one who is currently in the nest?
So actually the little one isn't so little anymore.
He eats and grows beautifully and doesn't seem to be the medicine he received against the trichomons turned out to be effective.
He's a 27-29 year old chick~ a good looking day and even the feathers are already starting to bloom.
Healthy and fat chick. And we love fat chicks 🙂

28.3.2022. izņemtais ērglēns A no klīnikas tika atgriezts ligzdā.

You have to watch this! The eagle chick has been returned to his adopted parents 🙂
You gotta watch this! Bonelli's chick returns to his foster parents…english below
10 days after stealing the pigeons was removed from the nest due to sticking to the trichomons pattern, he was returned to his adopted parents' nest 🙂
...
So 10 days ago the chick was transferred to the dedicated treatment of the בית חולים לחיות בר - The Israeli Wildlife Hospital team and passed a series of treatments until he recovered and was ready to return to the nest.
So, yesterday morning (28.3.22) Ohad Hatzofe and Walter Neser went out for a quick operation in which the recovered chick was returned to the nest of its adopted parents. As you remember, this chick actually swore at Ygal Miller's breeding ground in שמורת טבע חי בר כרמל - רשות הטבע והגנים after passing through the original "dead" eggs.
But, as soon as the nest surfaced, the existing chick discovered signs of aggression and attacked Walter Neser and the identified chick. Walter didn't get confused for a moment and gently pushed him away while his calmness and distance him from the constitutional iron. He also gave him another dose of medicine to take care of the trichomonas that also infected him. A professional!
Honestly, the chick's behavior makes the video very amusing.
Funny funny but the whole story is very moving!
To see his foster parents return to the nest and immediately receive him with "open wings" after 10 days of absence? And is he even an adopted chick?
There are no words!
Israeli nature exceeds any possible imagination.
And all this thanks to very dear people who give their soul to preserve nature in Israel!
AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!
Ten days passed since we had to evacuate the Trichomonas (Trichomonas gallinae) infected Bonelli’s chick from its nest, for some medical care in the Israeli Wildlife Hospital. As you remember - this parasite is deadly and the chick showed advanced stages of the parasite influence - so we had no choice. Gladly, the chick recovered well at the Wildlife Hospital so yesterday, on the 28.3.22, a swift chick returning operation was conducted - by INPA avian ecologist - Ohad Hatzofe together with the professional climber - Walter Neser. Think about the deviated audience watching the Eagle’s nest when all of a sudden Walter appears… crazy!
At the nest, the resident chick showed a lot of aggressive behavior towards Walter (good work chick!) and also towards the returning chick (we’re less enthusiastic about this one… but no worries, this will change very soon). Walter remained calm and kept them apart, gently. He also gave the resident chick some medicine for he/she also suffering from Trichomonas. This Walter is a true professional!
This video, with its funny moments of the chick attacking Walter, is very emotional. To see the foster parents returning to the nest and having their ten days missing chick with open wings… It's a big WOW for us here in the project. And don’t forget that these chicks are actually adopted, after the original embryos died in the eggs. What a story. No matter how this story ends, some dedicated folks deserve a big THANK YOU! Without you guys we wouldn’t get the chance to witness this drama. Without you guys Israeli Critically Endangered birds of prey wouldn’t have a chance.

Mazuli A, kurš jau bija stacionēts, atkal vajadzēja glābt.
Pagājušajā piektdienā (1.4.22) redzējām, ka viņš nevar nostāvēt (video sākumā var redzēt, kā viņš mēģina tikt tuvāk ēdienam, ko brālis tikko ieguva no mātītes). Tāpēc nolemts to atkārtoti pārvest uz klīniku.

And again we had to rescue the eagle chick 🙁
The recovered chick who was returned to his adopted parents nest 10 days after being rescued due to being stuck in the trichomone pattern, was rescued again from the nest 🙁
As a reminder, the eagle chick was rescued from the nest on 18.3.22 due to being stabbed in a deadly trichomonas gallinea and was transferred to בית חולים לחיות בר - The Israeli Wildlife Hospital
After 10 days of rehabilitation (28.3.22) he was returned to his hardworking parents and successfully recorded there on their hands.
And then last Friday (1.4.22) we saw that he couldn't stand and almost didn't move his nest (you can see him at the beginning of the video trying to get closer to the food his brother just got from the female). We followed with worry until Saturday afternoon and since it showed no signs of recovery (and vice versa) it was decided to surf back into the nest to check on his condition.
The staff got together quickly and Walter Neser surfaced into the nest and immediately discovered that the chick's leg was straight and not functioning. Therefore, it has been decided to be transferred to the hospital again.
And again we are present to see how important online cameras and intimate tracking are for nature conservation in Israel.
In the meantime, we'll wish the chick a complete recovery and will update as soon as we know what his condition is...

The eagle chick has been returned to his adopted parents for the second time!
How much investment and effort for one rare chick... Crazy!
The recovered snail chick who was rescued from his foster parents' nest last Friday (1.4.22) due to a leg problem, was returned this morning (7.4.22) back to the nest after rehabilitation at בית חולים לחיות בר - The Israeli Wildlife Hospital .
As a reminder, this is the second time he has been returned to his foster parents' nest in the last month!
For the first time (28.3.22) he was returned 10 days after being removed from the nest for the first time (18.3.22) due to being infected with a lethal pill called Trichomonas gallinea and being treated at the Wildlife Hospital.
So, this time too, after the hospital saw that he was in order to hurry and return him to the nest today (7.4.22) early in the morning. Quick quick before the window of opportunity closes. Walter Neser came out of the hospital at night and with Or Rishon already surfaced and put the chick gently in the Kino.
To make us happy a lot, every time he is returned to the nest he is successfully harvested, and in a smooth and impressive way, by his hardworking parents and even by his brother who this time received him happily and with long lasting spoils on the source 🙂Endless efforts on one rare chick...Amazing!

Interesanta informācija. Gribēju piebilst, ka latviski šo sugu sauc par svītraino ērgli. Mums tuvākās šīs sugas ligzdošanas vietas ir Pireneju pussala un Francija un viens ar raidītāju aprīkots šīs sugas putns no Francijas šī mēneša sākumā izlidoja cauri Latvijai. http://www.putni.lv/aqufas.htm

Paldies, roosaluristaja !

Interesanti...Vai latviešu valodā putnu nosaucot, nemaz nelieto Bonelli vārdu? Un arī citur? piemēram, Francijā kā nosauc?
Kā tas nākas, ka latvieši nosaukuši ērgli citādi nekā citur pasaulē, kurš te Latvijā tikai retu reizi izlido cauri?
