A note on bolus regurgitation.
A chick will regurgitate a bolus of hard indigestible parts of the diet prior to fledging. There can be a bit of variation as to when this occurs, typically 1 to 3 weeks seems to be the range. Prior estimates are based on very small sample sizes of known regurgitation and fledging dates and may not have reflected the true range.
Here are some past examples of what we find.
Note the plastic fragments.
We collect all the samples that we find for research purposes.
Piezīme par bolusa regurgitāciju.
Cālis pirms izlidošanas atgrūdīs bolusu no grūti nesagremojamām barības daļām.
