On Tuesday Quarry Track chick was 174 days old and weighed 7.7kg.
Supplementary feeding continues despite YRK bringing in more food. A female chick of 174 days should be well over 8 kg.

Quarry Track chick is now 178 days old and weighed 7.5kg prior to being supplementary fed 650 ml fluid with electrolytes and 1 kg fish. Since last weekend her weight has ranged from 7.4 kg to 7.7 kg but with supplementary feeding and the times YRK has been into feed her weight will have been up around 9kg until that food has been digested.
Weight gain for the albatross chicks does plateau at this stage and will drop prior to fledging in September.

Today we have another day of heavy rain so weighing and supplementary feeding have been done together just for those chicks who need it. Quarry Track chick was weighed and supplementary fed at 10.30 am today. Three other chicks were supplementary fed as well.
Quarry Track chick is 181 days old and weighed 8.1 kg today. YRK was in on days 178, 179, and 180. Prior to this on days 176 and 178 Quarry Track chick was weighed in at 7.5 kg on both days and was supplementary fed 650 ml fluids and 1 kg fish each time. Today's boost in weight has brought her closer to the minimum weight we would like to see at this age subsequently she was fed 600 ml fluids and 0.8 kg fish today.
Here is a weight graph for the Royalcam chick, with weights in kg. The blue line is the pre-feed weight and the red line is the post-supplementary feeding weight. Age has been taken out and the graph is condensed in the post guard period when we do not weigh every day.

Quarry Track chick was supplementary fed this morning at 10.08 am this morning. She is now 185 days old. Her weight was 7.8 kg prior to receiving 650 ml fluids and 1 kg fish. Post-feed weight is 9,45 kg and an above-average weight for this age in a female. She was fed more today to compensate for a drop in weight since Tuesday.
Here is an updated weight graph with daily weights for the first 2 weeks taken out.

Today Quarry Track is 188 days old and weighed 8.2 kg after YRK had been in to feed at around 9.45 am this morning. We supplementary fed later in the morning as 8.2 kg is a little on the low side for this age and weight has generally been low for a couple of months now. She happily took 650 ml fluids and 1.1 kg fish.
Banding Day
5th August 2022 is the day we hope to band all the chicks on the headland. They will all receive a stainless steel band with their unique number on the right leg and possibly a alpha-numeric band on the left leg. The alpha-numeric bands are still in transit so may be put on at a later stage if they haven't arrived in time. These are new bands that do not require being glued as the past bands have so will be put on during the next weigh day after arrival.
