Apologies for the technical issues. We currently have no Internet in the Ranger Office at Taiaroa Head as the server is down. We are looking into it and will be back as soon as possible.
Atawhai is still here and can sometimes be seen on the Port Otago Harbour Cam.
Hcam chicks parents were in this afternoon as well as OGK.

She was 8.2kg last Tuesday and will be weighed again tomorrow.
Her wings are nearly 3m long.
We hope that in 7 or 8 years time she will lay her first egg.

She hatched on the 31st January 2020.
Weighing occurs once a week.
Albatross can live up to 60 years of age.
When Atawhai returns as a 5 year old she will recieve 2 or 3 new colour bands.
Her besk is about 15cm long which is as long as my hand.
Atawhai has so many feathers on her wings I have not been able to count them.
She is nearly 1m tall.
