Tūmanako svars 10,4 kg.
Albatrosēnam (arī citiem jaunajiem putniem)ir noņemts zilais gredzens,jo tas izrādījies mazliet par lielu un bijusi iespēja savainoties.

Good afternoon everyone,

What a day we had yesterday for the ‘Name the Chick’ winners (Marian and Phil) and the Air NZ Green Team reps. They got to see it all!! They saw parents flying, they saw parents landing, they saw parents taking off, they saw chicks up close and they saw chicks being fed and that included Tūmanako being fed. The birds (and weather) could not have put on a better show!! Smiles all around.

Sharyn and I had a nice day today too. The sun was out and the chicks were weighed. Tūmanako was a bit camera shy but came in at 10.4kgs. For the eagle-eyed viewers you may (or may not have) noticed that he is missing his blue band. We had received information that these bands were the wrong size (particularly for the boys) so we removed them from all the chicks to prevent any possibility of injuries occurring. We will not be replacing them this season. Our biggest chick today was 11.3kg while our lightest was 7.8kg. We gave four birds a small supplementary feed top up.

And finally, many of you will be interested to know that after many years of dedication working with Northern Royal albatross and other species at Taiaroa Head, Lyndon has decided not to return to work at the Department after his leave finishes. We hope he continues to be involved in conservation and wish him well for the future.

Gandrīz tā ir ļoti gribētos redzēt aizlidošanu,bet cerības niecīgas.Arī svēršana bija jau neredzamajā zonā Mazais klaidonītis

Tiešraides kamerā tiešām maz cerību to ieraudzīt visā krāšņumā, bet ļoti ceru, ka darbinieki kādus video uzņems paši. Viņiem jau visi mazie albatrosēni pamazām vīkšās uz lidošanu, kādam jāstaigā pilnā gatavībā filmēt ar kameru...
