Territories are defended by the males and mating takes place and nest locations are chosen.

Having either bred previously or have been ‘keeping company’ the courtship formalities are over.
Non-breeders are also arriving, particularly those who had started ‘keeping company’ late last summer. Non-breeders continue to arrive through to the end of the summer.
A new nest for the Royalcam will be chosen after egg laying in November.

GPS tracking update:
One of the male juvenile toroa that fledged very soon after GPS tagging appears to be rounding Cape Horn. This is one of the most treacherous parts of the ocean in the world. No problem for albatross though.
