Jūnijs 16: auksts dienas sākums un vairāki dueti un pārošanās agrā gaismā. Dāma aizgāja 6:40. Abi toreiz bija aizņemti ar nūju un lapu atnešanu. Un atkal pēc pulksten 7:00, lai gan tuvumā dzirdēts zvans. Atkal 8:16 ar nūjām. Viņi bija iekšā un ārā ar nūjām, pavadīja laiku arī prom, pārojoties pulksten 10:17. Tad tētis 12:05 atnesa bezgalvu breksi. Viņš atnesa lapas un zivis neēda līdz pulksten 14:21. Kur bija lēdija? Ap pusdienlaiku Kazu salā manīti lidojam citi ērgļi - pusaudzis ērglis un mazulis. Bet tad ap 16:30 pie upes ērgļus neredzēja, bet pieaugušie ērgļi bija redzēti un dzirdēti duetam Kazu salā. Līdz pulksten 18.00 neviens nebija atgriezies mājās.
June 16: a cold start to the day and several duets and mating in the early light. Lady was off at 6:40. Both then were busy bringing sticks and leaves. And off again after 7am -though heard calling neaby. Back again at 8:16 with sticks. They were in and out with sticks, spending time away too, mating at 10:17. Then Dad brought a headless bream at 12:05. He brought leaves and did not eat the fish until 14:21. Where was Lady? Around noon other eagles - a sub-adult eagle and a juvenile were seen flying about at Goat Island. But then around 16:30 no eagles were seen at the river but adult eagles were seen and heard duetting at Goat Island. By 6pm, neither had returned home.-

June 17: neither were near the nest last night, then seen together on the river just after 8am, at Rivendell. We learned later that they were heard very early at Burns Bay – so probably spent the night there. They returned home again at 8:22. Both spent time grooming close by the nest, then back to the nest for some housework. In and out a little with more work, then both were away at 9:44 – not seen from the river shortly after. Dad returned with a stick at 10:11. Away, then both back together just after 11am, with leaves and stick. Both to the branch, Lady bowed forward to show her willingness to mate, then she was off after. Both were then in and out with nest materials and away from 1pm – and where were they? Around 2:50 2 were seen near Silverwater Rd heading west and later 2 were seen in a tree eating at Goat Island, then at 4pm heading west. Dad came home at 17:27 followed by Lady at 17:35. Both moved some sticks and re-arranged the bowl. They then settled side by side by the nest. What will tonight bring?

Tētis ieradās mājās pulksten 17:27, pēc tam lēdija pulksten 17:35. Abi pakustināja dažus kociņus un pārkārtoja bļodu. Pēc tam viņi apmetās blakus ligzdai. Ko šis vakars nesīs?

June 18: During the early night the eagles were disturbed by a Powerful Owl swooping close, almost knocking Dad off his perch. Both called and flapped in protest. The eagles woke on a very cold morning, with a couple of short duets and a longer duet followed by mating at 6:30. Both were on the nest at 6:30, moving things around and chewing in the base to settle leaves. Then both off a few minutes later. Dad returned with the first stick just before 7am. Both were away and returned at 8:40 with another stick. During the morning they were in and out with nest materials. Dad brought in part of a big mullet at 11:18 – leaving it on the nest –and claimed by Lady shortly after. She finished it off on the feeding fork, cleaned her beak and away. Dad has been busy bringing in sticks today and Lady a few. They were out of sight for a while then around 4pm one eagle was spotted at Goat Island and one could be seen from the river at Ironbark Roost. Dad returned to the nest at 16:39 with a whiting– caught along the way home? – claimed and eaten by Lady soon after. 2 fish today, 9 sticks for Dad and 3 for Lady, several matings including at last light this evening..
18. jūnijs: Agrā naktī ērgļus iztraucēja spēcīga pūce, kas pieskrēja tuvu, gandrīz notriekdama tēti no asara. Abi zvanīja un protestējot plivināja. Ērgļi pamodās ļoti aukstā rītā, ar pāris īsiem duetiem un garāku duetu, kam sekoja pārošanās 6:30. Abi atradās ligzdā pulksten 6:30, pārvietoja lietas. Pēc tam abi aizlido pēc dažām minūtēm. Tētis atgriezās ar pirmo nūju tieši pirms pulksten 7:00. Abi bija prom un atgriezās 8:40 ar citu nūju. No rīta viņi bija iekšā un ārā ar ligzdas materiāliem. Tētis pulksten 11:18 atnesa daļu no lielas kefales, atstājot to uz ligzdas, un lēdija neilgi pēc tam to pieprasīja. Viņa pabeidza to uz barošanas dakšas, notīrīja knābi un devās prom. Tētis šodien ir aizņemts ar nūju atnesšanu, bet dāma - dažas. Viņi kādu laiku nebija redzami, tad ap pulksten 16:00 viens ērglis tika pamanīts Kazu salā un viens no upes bija redzams Ironbark Roost. Tētis atgriezās ligzdā 16:39 ar merlangu – noķerts pa ceļam uz mājām? – apgalvoja un drīz pēc tam apēda lēdija. 2 zivis šodien, 9 nūjas tētim un 3 dāmai, vairākas pārošanās, ieskaitot šovakar beidzot gaismu.

June 19: an early start as usual, with duets, stick and leaves delivery, more duets and mating – continuing through the morning. Both were away then shortly after 10:20 and not seen from the river soon after. He has brought 7 offerings so far this morning. They returned close together around 2pm. Some nest reno then Lady was off again. Back together after 3pm, with stick and leaves more chewing in the bowl and duet. Off away again, and not seen from the river. Early evening at 17:24, Dad returned with a Coot, claimed by Lady and taken to be plucked and eaten. She fed well, leaving a few scraps for Dad. He ate, though dropped the last bit, again. Both settled for the night. Maybe tomorrow will be egg action.

June 20: early awake after sleeping near the nest, then several duets and mating – and off. Dad was back with fresh bloody prey –another coot – at 7:14. Lady followed quickly and took it to eat. When finished she returned soon with a stick and both then brought in sticks and leaves. From around 12, a duet was heard, then neither could be seen from the river. Out and about then 2 eagles were seen in the usual Goat Island tree at 14:20 – and a very long duet heard shortly after. Then Dad returned home just before 4pm with a whiting, Lady in to claim it – and ate it all. Another duet –with Dad close and Lady at Ironbark Roost. Dad brought another long stick in – his 9th today. Lady returned at 17:10 - a little nest maintenance – then a short duet and mating, and settled for the night together.

Lēdija ātri sekoja un paņēma to ēst. Kad pabeidza, viņa drīz atgriezās ar nūju un abas tad ienesa nūjas un lapas. Ap pulksten 12 bija dzirdams duets, tad no upes nevarēja redzēt ne vienu, ne otru. Apmēram pēc tam 14:00 ērgļi tika manīti parastajā Kazu salas kokā pulksten 14:20 – un neilgi pēc tam atskanēja ļoti garš duets. Tad tētis atgriezās mājās īsi pirms pulksten 16.00 ar merlangu, dāma ienāca, lai to paņemtu — un to visu apēda. Vēl viens duets – ar tēti tuvu un lēdiju Ironbark Roost. Tētis ienesa vēl vienu garo nūju – viņam šodien 9.. Dāma atgriezās 17:10 - neliela ligzdas kopšana - tad īss duets un pārošanās, un iekārtojās nakšņošanai kopā.

June 21: a quiet night, then several early morning duets and mating. Both were standing in the deep nest bowl, with dad chewing and digging at her feet, settling leaves and twigs in the bowl . Dad brought a fish at 8:07, but took it off. He returned later with a stick and spent some time moving things about. They were both away for some time, then both back a few times with a stick. Off again until Dad brought in a partially plucked coot at 13:33 which was taken by Lady and eaten on the branch. She ate for over 45 minutes, then off, leaving one leg draped on the branch. Dad returned with a stick just after 4, with a full crop, so he has eaten somewhere. Lady in as well, with duets and mating nearby. At dark, both were settled close to the nest.
21. jūnijs: klusa nakts, tad vairāki agri rīta dueti un pārošanās. Abi stāvēja dziļajā ligzdas bļodā, tētis košļāja un raka pie viņas kājām, nosēdināja bļodā lapas un zarus. Tētis 8:07 atnesa zivi, bet noņēma. Viņš atgriezās vēlāk ar nūju un pavadīja kādu laiku, pārvietojot lietas. Viņi abi kādu laiku bija prom, tad abi dažas reizes atgriezās ar nūju. Atkal izgāja, līdz tētis pulksten 13:33 atnesa daļēji noplūktu kūku, ko lēdija paņēma un apēda uz zara. Viņa ēda vairāk nekā 45 minūtes, pēc tam izslēdza, atstājot vienu kāju uz zara. Tētis atgriezās ar kociņu tikai pēc 4, ar pilnu ražu, tātad kaut kur ir paēdis. Arī dāma ar duetiem un pārošanos tuvumā. Iestājoties tumsai, abi bija apmetušies tuvu ligzdai.

June 22: a cold and wet morning – rain started in the night and Lady hadn’t moved. An early duet at 6:21. Shortly after a long duet as Dad joined Lady – but no mating. After another duet and mating this time – still raining. Dad retuned with the tail end of a fish at 8:52. Lady claimed it and ate the lot nearby, then away. A duet was heard nearby at 10:03 though out of sight. Then again and Lady returned just after 11am with a stick. They were away again until 14:13 when Dad brought another fish in, claimed and eaten by Lady. Then they were off again until both returned home before 5pm, and straight into some nest arrangement. Then duet and mating and more nest bowl work from dad. They moved to their night roosts. Any action tonight we shall report tomorrow.

Pēc kārtējā dueta un pārošanās šoreiz – joprojām lietus. Tētis pārskaņoja ar zivs astes galu pulksten 8:52. Dāma to pieprasīja un apēda blakus esošo partiju, pēc tam prom. Tuvumā pulksten 10:03 tika dzirdēts duets, taču tas nebija redzams. Tad atkal un lēdija atgriezās tikai pēc pulksten 11:00 ar nūju. Viņi atkal bija prom līdz pulksten 14:13, kad tētis ienesa citu zivi, kuru lēdija paņēma un apēda. Pēc tam viņi atkal devās prom, līdz abi atgriezās mājās pirms pulksten 17:00 un uzreiz nokļuva ligzdā. Tad duets un pārošanās un vēl ligzdas bļoda darbs no tēta. Viņi pārcēlās uz savām nakts nakšņošanas vietām. Par šovakar veiktajām darbībām ziņosim rīt.

Tuvumā pulksten 10:03 tika dzirdēts duets, taču tas nebija redzams. Tad atkal un lēdija atgriezās tikai pēc pulksten 11:00 ar nūju. Viņi atkal bija prom līdz pulksten 14:13, kad tētis ienesa citu zivi, kuru lēdija paņēma un apēda. Pēc tam viņi atkal devās prom, līdz abi atgriezās mājās pirms pulksten 17:00 un uzreiz nokļuva ligzdā. Tad duets un pārošanās un vēl ligzdas bļoda darbs no tēta. Viņi pārcēlās uz savām nakts nakšņošanas vietām. Par šovakar veiktajām darbībām ziņosim rīt.

June 23: our pair woke very early before 5am with a duet, then Lady was standing in the nest bowl –teasing us. More duets and mating followed, with Dad bringing in several sticks. Lady brought one and both were in and out. After 10am both were away. Just after 11am one eagle was seen at Goat Island and one seen from the river near the nest. Later just before 12, eagles were seen duetting and mating at Goat Island. Are they our birds? A juvenile was seen there as well. They were out of sight in the afternoon until after 3pm, when Dad brought in half of a well-plucked bird, possibly a pigeon. Lady grabbed it and ate on the branch. A good feed for her. Lady brought leaves in at 15:47, arranging things to her satisfaction. Then Dad with another stick. They were away again, returning at dusk to the nest again, before settling for the night.

Atnāca tētis un paņēma mirstīgās atliekas vēlāk pulksten 11:30 – pēc tam, kad ienesa citu nūju. Tad viņš atgrieza ligzdā dažas mirstīgās atliekas – tā bija liela zivs. Abi toreiz bija prom, līdz tētis atgriezās un paņēma mirstīgās atliekas citam gājienam – un tad ar to aizlidoja. Neilgi pēc pulksten 13.00 lēdiju varēja redzēt no upes netālu no Ironbark Roost, un drīz pēc tam viņa atgriezās ligzdā tūlīt pēc tēta. June 25: After some time on the nest, standing and keeping us in suspense, Lady went to her sleeping branch and slept quietly for the rest of the night. Both woke early with several early morning duets and finally mating at 6:25. Both were away just before 7am. Dad returned with a small bream, head eaten, and left it on the nest at 7:13. Both eagles were seen from the river at 7:50, one at River Roost the other near Ironbark Roost in the forest. Dad returned and took the fish himself just after 9am. He brought a stick in just before 10am, followed by Lady and off again after a little work. Both returned again just before 11am, Dad again with a stick. Both off again, no prey. He was back again an hour later, followed by Lady – no prey – and off again. Then he brought a leafy twig, again followed by Lady – then she was off again. Dad returned with a big whiting at 16:19, quickly claimed by Lady and taken off to eat at Ironbark Roost. She returned the last scrap to the nest at 16:48. Later at last light, both were on the nest, then moved to nearby branches for the evening. Will tonight be the night?

Both were then off and away. He bought a stick, both arranged things and digging in the bowl, then off at 8am. At 9:15 one could be seen from the river at Ironbark Roost. Dad came back around 10, closely followed by Lady –some nest work from both then off again at 10:21. He returned with a stick at 11:12, and off, but back around 12 with Lady. They moved to the branch and mated – then off again. Neither could be seen from the river at 12:35. At 13:14 Dad was back with a whiting –after eating the head. Lady was quick to come in and accept it. She ate on the nest, then moved a few sticks around. They were both away then until around 3:30 with a quick mating, then duets from away. At 16:35 Dad came back with a small bream which Lady claimed quickly and ate on the branch fork. Both then settled near the nest at dark. 2 fish brought for Lady today and a couple of sticks. the nest is so big.

At 10:23 Dad brought a small bream which as usual was quickly claimed by Lady and eaten on the nest. Another duet and mating followed, then both were off – Lady towards Ironbark Roost and Dad towards the river. Dad returned at 12 with half a Mulloway, claimed and eaten by Lady on the feeding fork. She left some remains there. They were both away for the afternoon until Dad returned at 16:15 and ate the leftover fish. Lady returned soon after and they were seen duetting and mating in the afternoon sun. Prolonged duets today. Both returned to the nest after 5pm, with Dad chewing and digging in the bowl at her feet. Dad left, then Lady settled in the bowl – back to us, fluffing up feathers and breathing hard, wider stance. Then welcome the first egg SE33 at 17:28 – first seen at 17:40.

June 28: after the first egg was laid last evening, Lady incubated on and off for the first 3 hours and then left the egg uncovered for the night – over 9 hours until she briefly sat again. During the night she sat on the nest by the egg, turned it several times and even spent a long time sleeping on the branch nearby. Again we are seeing their tactic of delayed incubation. There were several brief duets early in the morning, then after a longer duet, Dad left his overnight perch and came to the nest, rolled the egg and sat for his first shift. Lady took a turn briefly and then was off for a break. She was seen from the river in the sun at Ironbark Roost. Dad left the egg at 9:36 and both were away – with duets heard from near ironbark roost. Lady returned and sat at 10:15 – very briefly. During the night she sat on the nest by the egg, turned it several times and even spent a long time sleeping on the branch nearby. Again we are seeing their tactic of delayed incubation. There were several brief duets early in the morning, then after a longer duet, Dad left his overnight perch and came to the nest, rolled the egg and sat for his first shift. Lady took a turn briefly and then was off for a break. She was seen from the river in the sun at Ironbark Roost. June 30: Rain last night & Lady again incubated, only leaving the egg uncovered for short periods unlike the night before – incubation increasing as the second egg is expected. Dad came for his first shift at 6:47 and she was away for about an hour. Both then took turns at incubating. Just after 9am Lady could be seen from the river at Ironbark Roost, taking a break. She returned to incubate and Dad left again. He is ready to leave as soon as she lands, while Lady is slower to leave the egg. Uncomfortable on the nest for them both, in the rain. The rain eased in the afternoon, and Dad was sitting tight, though restless, as Lady took another long break. Both shuffle, change position, dig a bit as they sit, rolling the egg as well. Dad was finally off the egg and met with Lady at Ironbark roost area, duet heard. She finally came back to the egg – Dad had been sitting alone for over 2 hours. Rain started again in the late afternoon. He brought a half fish to the nest just after 5pm, which Lady claimed and ate on the nest. She then returned to incubate, sparkling in the rain. Dad returned late afternoon, though with no prey – nothing brought today for Lady though she was away long enough to catch her own. Lady was on the eggs at dark and Dad roosting close by.

July 2: some rain last night, but Lady sat tight on her 2 eggs, with Dad sleeping nearby. She was disturbed at 8:36 when a rat was moving around on the nest – she lunged, but missed it. It was seen around the nest for quite some time afterwards. She moved and shuffled several times in the night, but the egg was only uncovered for a total of 22 minutes, with 6 minutes the longest the eggs were uncovered. She remained on the nest the whole night until a short duet, when Dad flew down to the nest at 6:35 and she backed off and left straight away – and off. Dad then incubated until she returned at 8:35. Both then were in and out during the day and both brought sticks and leaves. At 4:30 Dad was seen eating down on Mangrove Island. He returned, but with nothing for Lady. She had a full crop so appears to have eaten elsewhere. She had 2 breaks of around 2 hours, with Dad on the eggs. He spent longer on the eggs again today: 6:39 compared with Lady’s 4:52. The eggs were only uncovered around 30 minutes, with the longest time 6 minutes. At dark Lady was on the eggs and Dad nearby.

July 3: Lady again incubated all night, with breaks for stretching and shuffling a bit. She was disturbed by the Black rat again visiting, moving close by on the nest and nearby branches. After a brief duet in the morning she was away early and Dad took his first day shift at 6:42. She returned after more than an hour –a chance to stretch and have a break. She returned for another hour, then he was back again for an hour. Mid-morning, he sat again for some 2 hours. When she returned it was raining again, with raindrops sparkling on her feathers. Another couple of changes, then she was off again just after 1pm She was seen down on the river, on Mangrove Island and then River Roost – perhaps feeding. She then returned for another shift. She was sitting from 14:43 until Dad finally brought home some prey – a trevally just after 4pm. She had a good feed and was off for a while until she returned around 5pm and settled. Dad was again on the eggs for longer today – 6:27 with Lady for 5:15. The eggs were only uncovered for a total of 18m.
3. jūlijs: dāma atkal inkubēja visu nakti, ar pārtraukumiem, lai mazliet izstieptos un pamētātos. Viņu iztraucēja, ka atkal viesojās Melnā žurka, kas pārvietojās tuvu ligzdai un tuvējiem zariem. Pēc īsa dueta no rīta viņa bija agri prom, un tētis sāka savu pirmo dienas maiņu pulksten 6:42. Viņa atgriezās pēc vairāk nekā stundas – iespēja izstaipīties un atpūsties. Viņa atgriezās vēl uz stundu, tad viņš atkal uz stundu. No rīta viņš atkal sēdēja kādas 2 stundas. Kad viņa atgriezās, atkal lija lietus, un uz viņas spalvām dzirkstīja lietus lāses. Vēl pāris izmaiņas, tad viņa atkal devās prom tikai pēc pulksten 13:00. Viņa tika redzēta lejā uz upes, Mangrove salā un pēc tam River Roost — iespējams, barojas. Pēc tam viņa atgriezās citā maiņā. Viņa sēdēja no pulksten 14:43, līdz tētis beidzot atnesa mājās kādu laupījumu – trevalliju tūlīt pēc pulksten 16:00. Viņai bija laba barība, un viņa kādu laiku bija izslēgta, līdz viņa atgriezās ap pulksten 17:00 un apmetās. Tētis šodien atkal bija uz olām ilgāk – 6:27 ar Lady par 5:15. Olas tika atklātas tikai 18 m garumā.

July 4: rain during the night and disturbance from possums passing and the rat visiting again. Lady covered the eggs all night, with only brief breaks. There were a couple of early short duets from the nest, then she was off for a break at 6:34. Dad incubated until she returned just before 8am. He returned after 30 minutes and she seemed reluctant to go, but did after a few minutes. She was heard calling after a while from Ironbark roost and Dad was off and over that way. She returned straight to the nest and on the eggs at 9:12. Rain again. Dad brought leaves just before 10 and Lady moved off after a while. When she brought leaves 10minutes later, he was straight up and off. She was quicker to fly off and swap shifts when he brought leaves again . Then again a quick change over. Dad brought back a big mullet at 15:26. He had a full crop and Lady then took the fish and ate while he sat. An afternoon duet, with Dad away and Lady sitting. Late afternoon shift change, Dad was unwilling to leave. Lady settled then for the evening.

Bija pāris agri īsi dueti no ligzdas, tad viņa devās pārtraukumā 6:34. Tētis inkubēja, līdz viņa atgriezās īsi pirms astoņiem no rīta. Viņš atgriezās pēc 30 minūtēm, un šķita, ka viņa negribēja iet, bet pēc dažām minūtēm to izdarīja. Pēc kāda laika tika dzirdēts, ka viņa zvana no Ironbark roost, un tētis bija izbraukumā un pārgāja tur. Viņa atgriezās tieši ligzdā un uz olām pulksten 9:12. Atkal lietus. Tētis atnesa lapas īsi pirms 10, un lēdija pēc brīža devās prom. Kad viņa pēc 10 minūtēm atnesa lapas, viņš bija taisni augšā un prom. Viņa ātrāk aizlidoja un apmainījās maiņām, kad viņš atkal atnesa lapas. Tad atkal ātra maiņa. Tētis 15:26 atnesa lielu kefalīti. Viņam bija pilna raža, un lēdija paņēma zivis un ēda, kamēr viņš sēdēja. Pēcpusdienas duets ar tēti prom un dāmu sēžot. Vēlā pēcpusdienā maiņas maiņa, tētis nevēlējās doties prom. Lēdija tad apmetās vakaram.

July 5; rain last night, though it was quieter on the nest. Early duets then Lady was off at 6:46, with a good break away. Dad was seen down on the river at 9am, before heading off for a shift change. There was some rain during the day and it became quite windy. The eggs have only been left uncovered for very short periods on this cold day. There were numerous change-overs during the day, and both brought in leaves. Lady spent longer on the eggs today than Dad –the first time for a while, though not a lot of difference. Lady had a long afternoon shift – well over 2 hours, though Dad didn’t bring her back any prey. Then despite some whining calls, she was settled on the nest at dark.
5. jūlijs; pagājušajā naktī lietus, lai gan ligzdā bija klusāks. Agrākie dueti, pēc tam Lady tika izslēgts 6:46, ar labu pārtraukumu. Tētis tika redzēts pie upes pulksten 9:00, pirms viņš devās uz maiņu. Dienā nedaudz lija lietus un kļuva diezgan vējains. Šajā aukstajā dienā olas ir atstātas nesegtas tikai ļoti īsu laiku. Dienas laikā notika daudzas maiņas, un abas ienesa lapas. Dāma šodien pie olām pavadīja ilgāk nekā tētis – pirmo reizi uz brīdi, lai gan atšķirības nebija lielas. Kundzei bija ilga pēcpusdienas maiņa — krietni vairāk nekā 2 stundas, lai gan tētis viņai neatnesa nekādu laupījumu. Tad, neskatoties uz dažiem vaimanājošiem zvaniem, tumsā viņa tika iekārtota ligzdā.
