January 16: all 3 Eagles were reported at the river early at 7:30, with a duet and SE31 calling too. I have noted that she was seen with prey yesterday, probably a fish, though no catch details. At 8:30, juvenile was at juvie Roost and one adult nearby at River Roost when an osprey flew past, calling. The adult flew to SE31, as the osprey continued up-river, possibly the young one. The river is still very muddy, with floating rubbish. Then at 10:10 SE31 was spotted on the island with prey, possibly bird. She was eating, then distracted by the parents’ duet .When changing branch, she appeared to drop it, though was seen pecking at scraps at the initial branch. She probably did not catch this herself, though delivery was not seen. She was heard whining again later and at 11:05, all were still around on their river roosts. Later at 1:30, juvenile was on the island and parents not seen, though mid afternoon at around 3:30 they were both seen near Goat Island.

Esmu atzīmējis, ka viņa vakar redzēta ar laupījumu, iespējams, zivi, lai gan bez nozvejas informācijas. 8:30 nepilngadīgais atradās pie juvie Roost un viens pieaugušais netālu River Roost, kad zivjērglis lidoja garām un sauca. Pieaugušais lidoja uz SE31, jo zivjērglis turpināja ceļu augšup pa upi, iespējams, jaunais. Upe joprojām ir ļoti dubļaina, ar peldošiem atkritumiem. Pēc tam pulksten 10:10 uz salas tika pamanīts SE31 ar medījumu, iespējams, putnu. Viņa ēda, pēc tam novērsa uzmanību no vecāku dueta. Mainot zaru, šķita, ka viņa to nomet, lai gan tika redzēta knābājot pie sākotnējā zara. Viņa, iespējams, pati to neuztvēra, lai gan piegāde netika redzēta. Vēlāk viņu atkal dzirdēja vaimanām, un pulksten 11:05 visi joprojām atradās savās upes nakšņošanas vietās. Vēlāk pulksten 13:30 nepilngadīgais atradās uz salas un vecāki netika redzēti, lai gan pēcpusdienas vidū ap pulksten 15:30 viņi abi tika redzēti netālu no Kazu salas.
January 17: river is still muddy. At 8:30 an adult and juvenile were at River Roost on separate branches. The other eagle was reported at Goat Island Later just before 10 adult was still there at River Roost and SE31 on the island. Then she was seen on the ground, perhaps picking at scraps. Another observer saw her eating early at 7:20. She was seen then moving about on the island from branch to branch and out of sight. Dad flew east and out of sight just after 2, followed then by SE31, way over the wetlands and over Concord way. After a long flight of almost an hour, she was seen at the river again . She is venturing further and more confident. Late afternoon, rain on the river.
17. janvāris: upe joprojām ir dubļaina. 8:30 pieaugušais un nepilngadīgais atradās River Roost atsevišķos atzaros. Par otru ērgli tika ziņots Kazu salā. Vēlāk īsi pirms 10:00 pieaugušie joprojām atradās salas River Roost un SE31. Tad viņa tika redzēta uz zemes, iespējams, vācot lūžņus. Cits novērotājs redzēja viņu ēst agri pulksten 7:20. Pēc tam viņa tika redzēta pārvietojamies pa salu no zara uz zaru un prom no redzesloka. Tētis lidoja uz austrumiem un pazuda no redzesloka tūlīt pēc 14:00, pēc tam sekoja SE31, pāri mitrājiem un pāri Konkordas ceļam. Pēc gandrīz stundu ilga lidojuma viņa atkal tika redzēta pie upes. Viņa dodas tālāk un kļūst pārliecinātāka. Vēlā pēcpusdienā upē lietus.
January 18: fine early morning and our juvenile was seen on the island at 7:30, flying around a bit and then on the exposed mudflats nearby. Then after a short fly about, she disappeared into the mangroves behind River Roost. No adults were seen before this. Then later at 9;30 she was seen picking at bits of rubbish on the mudflats. Sometimes there may be dead fish for scavengers. However human rubbish may cause injuries. There were no more reports until just after 4pm, when 1 adult was seen on River Roost, but SE31 was out of sight.
18. janvāris: jauks agrs rīts, un mūsu mazulis tika manīts uz salas pulksten 7:30, mazliet lidojam un pēc tam blakus esošajos dubļu stāvos. Pēc neilga lidojuma viņa pazuda mangrovju audzēs aiz Roostas upes. Pirms tam neviens pieaugušais nebija redzēts. Pēc tam vēlāk pulksten 9:30 viņa tika manīta dubļu līdzenumos vācam atkritumus. Dažkārt var būt beigtas zivis, kas paredzētas slazdiem. Tomēr cilvēku atkritumi var izraisīt traumas. Ziņojumu vairs nebija, līdz tikai pēc pulksten 16:00, kad uz River Roost tika redzēts 1 pieaugušais, bet SE31 nebija redzams.
January 19: 7:30, no Eagles were seen at the river. Shortly after, we spotted SE31 hidden in branches on the island. 8:15 she was seen flying low over the mudflats in Ermington Bay behind the island. She was possibly hunting and flushed out other waterbirds- Ibis, herons, ducks. As the tide was going out, more of the mudflats were exposed and we saw her picking at scraps on the mudflats. She spent some time flying about the island swooped several times one circuit by an angry Magpie. We feel she was eating at one stage, though prey not identified. At 9:30, neither adult had been seen. I returned at 12:10 and finally saw her fly from low at River Roost to a higher branch. Finally just after 6pm, one adult was seen down on the river, but SE31 out of sight.
19. janvārī: 7:30, Ērgļi pie upes nebija manīti. Neilgi pēc tam mēs pamanījām uz salas zaros paslēptu SE31. 8:15 viņa tika redzēta zemu lidojam virs dubļu līdzenumiem Ermingtonas līcī aiz salas. Viņa, iespējams, medīja un izskaloja citus ūdensputnus - ibisus, gārņus, pīles. Paisumam ejot, vairāk dubļu stāvu bija atsegti, un mēs redzējām, kā viņa savāca lūžņus dubļu līdzenumos. Viņa kādu laiku pavadīja, lidojot pa salu, kuru vairākas reizes aptvēra dusmīga vārna. Mēs uzskatām, ka viņa ēda vienā posmā, lai gan laupījums nav identificēts. 9:30 neviens pieaugušais nebija manīts. Es atgriezos pulksten 12:10 un beidzot redzēju, kā viņa lidoja no zemas River Roost uz augstāku atzaru. Beidzot tieši pēc pulksten 18.00 upē tika pamanīts viens pieaugušais, bet SE31 nebija redzams.
January 20: early at 6am both parents were at River Roost, with SE31 whining for food. At 6:40 one of the parents caught a fish for her, in front of River Roost. She is so hard to see at times in the mangroves. Later in the early afternoon, SE31 was out of sight, but Dad was seen taking off, circling over the wetlands, returned, then headed off again towards Wentworth Point. He returned at 2:23 with a small fish – Lady was still there. By 2:40, juvenile was eating on a low branch, Dad was in the air and Lady still in the same place. 20. janvāris: agri pulksten 6:00 abi vecāki bija River Roost, un SE31 vaimanāja pēc ēdiena. 6:40 viens no vecākiem noķēra viņai zivi River Roost priekšā. Mangrovju audzēs viņu reizēm ir tik grūti pamanīt. Vēlāk agrā pēcpusdienā SE31 vairs nebija redzams, bet tētis tika redzēts paceļamies, riņķojot pāri mitrājiem, atgriezās un pēc tam atkal devās uz Ventvortas punktu. Viņš atgriezās pulksten 14:23 ar mazu zivtiņu – lēdija joprojām bija tur. 14:40 nepilngadīgais ēda uz zema zara, tētis bija gaisā, un lēdija joprojām bija tajā pašā vietā. Attēlā ir tētis ar dažām spalvu spraugām spārnos.
January 21: early visit to the nest by Lady –the first for a long time – arrived just after 6am, moved a stick about. Grey Butcherbird and Noisy Miners nearby, then moved off to the river area at 6:50. Then SE31 was seen pestering Lady for food, before finally having a couple of "attempts" herself, only catch being a ball, taken into mangroves at RR. Kept her amused for a good 20minutes. While we were there until about 9am, she flew about a bit and kept flying close to Lady, seeking food and causing Lady to move. Again her protective colouring makes her hard to see. There were no more observations recorded later in this very hot day – eagles no doubt sheltering from the heat.
21. janvāris: Lady agri viesojās ligzdā – pirmā uz ilgu laiku – ieradās tikai pēc pulksten 6:00, pakustināja nūju. Grey Butcherbird un Noisy Miners tuvumā, pēc tam devās uz upes apgabalu pulksten 6:50. Pēc tam SE31 tika manīts, kā lēdija meklēja pēc pārtikas, pirms beidzot pāris reizes pati pamēģināja, tikai noķert, ka ir bumba, ieveda mangrovju audzēs RR. Uzjautrināja viņu 20 minūtes. Kamēr mēs bijām tur līdz aptuveni 9:00, viņa nedaudz lidoja un turpināja lidot tuvu lēdijai, meklējot ēdienu un liekot lēdijai kustēties. Atkal viņas aizsargājošā krāsa padara viņu grūti pamanāmu. Vēlāk šajā ļoti karstajā dienā novērojumi vairs netika reģistrēti – ērgļi, bez šaubām, patvērās no karstuma.
January 22: a cooler morning. From just before 8am, no eagles were seen at the river- though SE31 may have been hidden. Later in the afternoon, SE31 was neither seen nor heard but at 2:45 an adult was seen circling over Melrose Park, then heading north. 4:40 Dad was seen circling over Ermington Bay, then over the river towards Meadowbank. There has been some interaction with an osprey – maybe the juvenile – in photo. Where is our juvenile? Has she moved on?
22. janvāris: vēsāks rīts. Īsi pirms pulksten 8 pie upes ērgļi netika manīti, lai gan SE31 varēja būt paslēpts. Vēlāk pēcpusdienā SE31 nebija ne redzēts, ne dzirdēts, bet pulksten 2:45 virs Melrose Park tika manīts pieaugušais, kurš devās uz ziemeļiem. 4:40 Tētis tika redzēts riņķojam pāri Ermingtonas līcim, tad pāri upei uz Meadowbank. Ir bijusi kāda mijiedarbība ar zivjērgli – varbūt mazuli – fotoattēlā. Kur ir mūsu nepilngadīgais? Vai viņa ir virzījusies tālāk?
January 23 update and a little background: It is so pleasing to see SE31 doing so well, down on the river, flying strongly and learning Sea-Eagle skills. In previous years we have been unable to watch this post-fledging period of dependence and survival of fledglings has been poor.
Both young eagles left the nest on October 24 a few days after fledging and were seen nearby for some days. We are unsure of the whereabouts of SE32, the younger juvenile, though it was seen for some time after leaving the nest.
On 29 October, we heard the surprising news of a juvenile, rescued by Sydney Wildlife team from a balcony at Denistone, a few kilometres away. It was believed she was not injured and appeared strong. Weight and wing measurements indicated that it was a female and comparison with photos from the nest confirmed that this was our SE31. After discussion and approval from our NPWS supervisors, SE31 was quietly released in the buffer zone adjacent to the nest forest on November 3. This area was recommended as the parents were still actively engaged, including bringing food to the nest. She flew off in a big loop and headed out into the open area of the Armory. Over the following weeks, as seen in our Daily Diary notes, she has settled on the Parramatta River nearby, flying strongly between the favourite roosts of the parents and taking prey they bring. Our juvenile has caught prey herself, though she still begs from the adult eagles.
She is learning to be a Sea-Eagle.
We expect she will leave the area soon, at over 3 months since fledge, as she gains skills and strength for life away from Home.
Regarding post-fledging behaviour: Stephen Debus reports this post-fledging dependence as lasting for 2-3 months - so our SE31 may be leaving soon. Stephen does suggest that young may stay about for longer, not leaving until even 4-6 months. So keep watching. (see "A field Guide to Birds of Prey of Australia" Stephen Debus - third edition)
23. janvāra atjauninājums un neliels priekšvēsture: Ir tik patīkami redzēt, ka SE31 klājas tik labi, upē, spēcīgi lidojot un apgūstot Sea-Eagle prasmes. Iepriekšējos gados mēs nevarējām vērot šo atkarības periodu pēc atkarības, un mazuļu izdzīvošana ir bijusi slikta.
Abi jaunie ērgļi ligzdu atstāja 24. oktobrī dažas dienas pēc izlidošanas un dažas dienas tika manītas tuvumā. Mēs neesam pārliecināti par SE32, jaunākā mazuļa atrašanās vietu, lai gan tas bija redzams kādu laiku pēc ligzdas atstāšanas.

Pēc diskusijām un mūsu NPWS uzraugu apstiprinājuma SE31 klusi tika atbrīvots buferzonā blakus ligzdu mežam 3. novembrī. Šī teritorija tika ieteikta, jo vecāki joprojām aktīvi iesaistījās, tostarp nesa ligzdai barību. Viņa aizlidoja lielā cilpā un devās ārā uz ieroču glabātuves laukumu. Nākamo nedēļu laikā, kā redzams mūsu ikdienas dienasgrāmatas piezīmēs, viņa ir apmetusies netālu esošajā Parramatta upē, spēcīgi lidojot starp vecāku iecienītākajām nakšņošanas vietām un gūstot viņu atnesto laupījumu. Mūsu mazulīte pati ir noķērusi medījumu, lai gan joprojām ubago no pieaugušiem ērgļiem.
Viņa mācās būt par jūras ērgli.
Mēs sagaidām, ka viņa drīz pametīs apgabalu, vairāk nekā 3 mēnešus kopš aizbraukšanas, jo viņa gūs prasmes un spēku dzīvei prom no mājām.
Attiecībā uz uzvedību pēc aizplūšanas: Stīvens Debuss ziņo, ka šī atkarība pēc aizplūšanas ilgst 2–3 mēnešus, tāpēc mūsu SE31, iespējams, drīz pametīs. January 23: Rain early by the river. Later at 9:15, 1 adult could be seen at juvie roost. At 10:30 the adult was still there, but no sign of SE31 yet. She fledged 97 days ago, just over 3 months. Dad was seen on the island just after 3pm, then off over towards the Waterbird Refuge. Still no sign of SE31 . Last observation at 7:40 this evening, just before sunset, just one adult seen. Has she moved on?
23. janvāris: agrs lietus pie upes. Vēlāk pulksten 9:15 1 pieaugušais bija redzams juvie roostā. 10:30 pieaugušais vēl bija tur, bet vēl neliecināja par SE31. Viņa no ligzdas izlidoja pirms 97 dienām, nedaudz vairāk par 3 mēnešiem. Tētis tika redzēts uz salas tikai pēc pulksten 15:00, pēc tam devās uz ūdensputnu patvērumu. Joprojām nav nekādu SE31 pazīmju. Pēdējais novērojums 7:40 šovakar, īsi pirms saulrieta, redzēts tikai viens pieaugušais. Vai viņa ir virzījusies tālāk?
January 24: early morning one eagle was at River Roost, appears to be Dad. Incoming tide and there is lots of floating rubbish, man-made and natural- leaves, branches, plants. Stormwater carries lots of debris. Only Dad was seen by the river during the day. A drone was seen over the wetlands, delivering the routine mosquito management spraying. Later in the afternoon again only one eagle was seen. SE31 seems to be out of sight or has moved away from this area. She was last seen flying towards Homebush Bay. The photo is from the other day, a good catch though our youngster was not there to claim it. Thanks to Jan and all our other eagle watchers and photographers.
24. janvāris: agrā rītā viens ērglis atradās River Roost, šķiet, ir tētis. Pienāk paisums un ir daudz peldošu atkritumu, mākslīgo un dabisko - lapas, zari, augi. Lietusūdeņi pārvadā daudz gružu. Pie upes pa dienu redzēts tikai tētis. Virs mitrājiem tika novērots drons, kas veica parasto moskītu apkarošanas izsmidzināšanu. Vēlāk pēcpusdienā atkal redzēts tikai viens ērglis. Šķiet, ka SE31 nav redzams vai ir attālinājies no šīs zonas. Viņa pēdējo reizi redzēta lidojam uz Homebush Bay. January 25: an eagle-free day it seems, as none were seen by the river all day. Watchers checked nearby bays and the ospreys were sighted.
25. janvāris: šķiet, ka diena bez ērgļiem, jo visu dienu pie upes neviens netika redzēts. Vērotāji pārbaudīja tuvējos līčus, un zivjērgļi tika pamanīti.
January 28: again no Eagles were seen on the river or nearby. In the morning both adults were seen near Goat Island though. Plenty of other waterbirds on the river, like pelicans flying past the island, Then what a surprise, late in the evening Lady flew to the nest, followed by Dad, coming down from up higher. Lady moved a few sticks, then both were perched nearby. At dark, both were still there.
28. janvāris: atkal Ērgļi uz upes vai tās tuvumā nav manīti. No rīta abi pieaugušie gan manīti netālu no Kazu salas. Daudz citu ūdensputnu uz upes, piemēram, pelikāni, kas lido gar salu, Tad kāds pārsteigums, vēlu vakarā dāma aizlidoja uz ligzdu, kam sekoja tētis, nokāpjot no augšas. Lēdija pakustināja dažas nūjas, tad abi atradās netālu. Iestājoties tumsai, abi vēl bija tur.
January 29: for the first time for weeks, the eagles were at the nest overnight, waking early, fussing around a bit at the nest, early duet and off by 6:30. During the night a possum disturbed Lady, causing her to flap about on the nest. At 4pm it was reported that they had not been seen in the Goat Island area. And none in sight on the river at 5pm. No sign of our juvenile either. Where did they spend the day? And will they return to the nest tonight?
29. janvāris: pirmo reizi nedēļām ilgi ērgļi bija pie ligzdas pa nakti, pamostas agri, nedaudz sarosījās pie ligzdas, agrs duets un 6:30 devās prom. Naktī lēdiju iztraucēja apsēstība, liekot viņai plivināties pa ligzdu. 16:00 tika ziņots, ka viņi nav redzēti Kazu salas rajonā. Un neviens nav redzams upē pulksten 17:00. Arī no mūsu nepilngadīgajiem nav ne miņas. Kur viņi pavadīja dienu? Un vai viņi šovakar atgriezīsies ligzdā?
February 1: Adults were at Goat Island early, then seen there at times during the day. Then at 5:25, what we assume is SE31 appeared on Mangrove Island. Where has she been? Fish were jumping in the river and she may have been feeding on the island. No further reports yet – where will she be tomorrow?
1. februāris: Pieaugušie kazu salā atradās agri, pēc tam dažkārt tur redzēti dienas laikā. Pēc tam pulksten 5:25 Mangrove salā parādījās SE31. Kur viņa ir bijusi? Zivis lēkāja upē, un viņa, iespējams, barojās salā. Vairāk ziņojumu vēl nav — kur viņa būs rīt?
February 2: last evening at 7:39 an eagle flew from the island area and across the wetlands. With poor light it was impossible to identify. Shortly after an osprey was seen with a fish, heading back to Concord. Early this morning, our team reported SE31 at the river, first at Juvie roost then closer to river roost. She was seen later attempting a catch from the river, but it seemed nothing edible. Confirmed as our juvenile, as she was using her favourite roosts and flight paths. During the day the adults were seen at Goat Island, then flying west together at 4:30. Ospreys were active on the river in the late afternoon. Then adults seen back at Goat Island again.
2. februāris: pagājušajā vakarā pulksten 7:39 ērglis izlidoja no salas un pāri mitrājiem. Sliktā apgaismojumā to nebija iespējams identificēt. Neilgi pēc tam, kad zivjērglis tika manīts ar zivi, kurš devās atpakaļ uz Konkordu. Šorīt agri mūsu komanda ziņoja par SE31 pie upes, vispirms pie Juvie roost, tad tuvāk upes apmešanās vietai. Viņa tika redzēta vēlāk mēģinot noķert no upes, taču šķita, ka tā nav nekā ēdama. Apstiprināta kā mūsu nepilngadīgā, jo viņa izmantoja savas iecienītākās nakšņošanas vietas un lidojuma maršrutus. Dienas laikā pieaugušie tika redzēti Kazu salā, pēc tam kopā 16:30 lidojot uz rietumiem. Vēlā pēcpusdienā uz upes aktīvi darbojās zivjērgļi. Tad pieaugušie atkal redzēti Kazu salā.
February 3: early morning, no eagles were seen by the river or at Goat Island. Then around 9am SE31 was seen hidden in the mangroves near River roost. Later just after 12 she was seen in flight checking the river west of RR and western side of wetlands. Then she was lost to sight up very high over the prison. She flushed waterbirds from the wetlands as she flew over. No further reports at end of day – maybe update in the morning.
Later in the evening, a young Collared Sparrowhawk visited the nest briefly, as it did last night
3. februāris: agrs rīts, ērgļi netika manīti pie upes vai Kazu salā. Pēc tam ap pulksten 9:00 SE31 tika pamanīts paslēpies mangrovju audzēs netālu no River roost. Vēlāk tieši pēc pulksten 12 viņa tika redzēta lidojumā, pārbaudot upi uz rietumiem no RR un mitrāju rietumu pusi. Tad viņa zaudēja redzi ļoti augstu pār cietumu. Pārlidojot, viņa izskaloja ūdensputnus no mitrājiem. Dienas beigās nekādu citu ziņojumu — iespējams, atjaunināt no rīta.
Vēlāk vakarā jauns apkakles zvirbulēns īsu brīdi apmeklēja ligzdu, tāpat kā pagājušajā naktī.
February 4: our team was by the river early, though no eagles were seen. No sightings either from searches during the morning in nearby wetlands. At 9:30 one adult was seen at Goat Island, but then later in the middle of the day, neither seen. In the afternoon after 5pm, the osprey pair was seen flying over the bay behind Mangrove Island – while the eagles are away the ospreys will play?
4. februāris: mūsu komanda agri atradās pie upes, lai gan ērgļus neredzēja. Nav novērojumu arī no rīta meklējumiem tuvējos mitrājos. 9:30 viens pieaugušais tika redzēts Kazu salā, bet pēc tam dienas vidū neviens netika redzēts. Pēcpusdienā pēc pulksten 17:00 zivjērgļu pāris tika redzēts lidojam pāri līcim aiz Mangrovju salas – kamēr ērgļi ir prom, zivjērgļi spēlēsies?
February 5: another hot day coming. Early watchers reported no eagles seen at the river, or nearby at Duck Creek. One was seen at Goat Island at around 8:30. Still no eagles were seen at the river around 9am, though ospreys were seen on electricity towers behind mangrove Island and again later just after 11am. No sightings on the river mid-afternoon then at 5:30 in the evening, both eagles were at Goat Island.
5. februāris: tuvojas vēl viena karsta diena. Pirmie novērotāji ziņoja, ka pie upes vai netālu no Duck Creek nav redzēti ērgļi. Viens tika manīts Kazu salā ap pulksten 8:30. Ap plkst. 9.00 pie upes joprojām netika manīti ērgļi, lai gan zivjērgļi tika manīti uz elektrības torņiem aiz mangrovju salas un atkal pēc plkst. 11. Pēcpusdienā upē nebija novērojumu, tad 5:30 vakarā abi ērgļi atradās Kazu salā.
