September 20: After an early start Dad brought in a gull chick at 6:30 and another early afternoon. Both nestlings ate, with SE36 standing back some of the time –as is usual. Just after 3pm Lady brought in a small fish and both ate, though it didn’t last long. SE36 did very well and both had full crops. It was a windy afternoon. Late afternoon Lady bought another small whiting in – 36 was first to the fish –with a full crop already. Both ate, though 36 ate more this time. A good day for prey and feeds.

Ērgļu ligzdas dienasgrāmata – 20. septembris

Diena sākās agri – Tēvs jau 6:30 no rīta atnesa kaijas cālēnu, un vēl vienu pēcpusdienā. Abi mazuļi ēda, lai gan SE36 kā ierasts dažkārt palika malā. Nedaudz pēc plkst. 15:00 Lady atnesa nelielu zivi, un abi mazuļi to apēda, lai gan tā ātri pazuda. SE36 šoreiz darbojās veikli, un abiem bija pilnas guzas.
Pēcpusdiena bija vējaina. Vēlā pēcpusdienā Lady atnesa vēl vienu nelielu zivi – SE36 bija pirmais pie ēdiena, lai gan jau ar pilnu guzu. Abi ēda, bet šoreiz SE36 apēda vairāk. Kopumā – laba diena medībām un barošanai.

21.septembris

September 21: a lovely sunny day. Last evening, Dad brought in a last prey offering, another young gull and Lady fed them, though 35 ate most. SE36 found a last scrap itself. Lady spent most of the night beside them on the nest rim. A quiet morning until Lady herself brought in a young gull. 36 did quite well this feed. Both are picking at things in the nest. Then late afternoon Dad brought part of a fish, having already eaten himself. He fed them a little first, then Lady took over until all was gone. As the eagles called, the youngsters joined in too at end of day. Both settled nearby.

Ērgļu ligzdas dienasgrāmata – 21. septembris

Skaista, saulaina diena. Iepriekšējā vakarā Tēvs atnesa pēdējo medījumu – vēl vienu jaunu kaiju, un Lady baroja mazuļus, lai gan se 35 apēda lielāko daļu. SE36 pats atrada pēdējo pārpalikumu. Lady lielāko nakts daļu pavadīja blakus mazuļiem uz ligzdas malas.
Rīts bija mierīgs, līdz Lady pati atnesa jaunu kaiju. SE36 šajā barošanas reizē darbojās veiksmīgi. Abi mazuļi knibinājās pa ligzdu, meklējot ko ēdamu. Vēlā pēcpusdienā Tēvs atnesa daļu no zivs, pats jau paēdis. Viņš sākumā mazliet pabaroja mazuļus, pēc tam Lady pārņēma barošanu, līdz viss bija apēsts.
Dienas noslēgumā, kad ērgļi sauca, mazuļi pievienojās viņu balsīm. Abi apmetās tuvumā, gatavi nakts mieram.

22.septembris

September 22: Lady was beside the nestlings at night then awake with a very early duet. Lady brought the first fish prey in at 9:47 She fed her fish to both. 36 got more as 35 was holding back much of the time. She brought a bird in the early afternoon and fed both with 36 quickly up to start being fed first. She was the provider today, bringing a juvenile gull later just before 3pm. She fed a few bites, then some plucking, a few more bites, then took it off to pluck some more. When she returned both ate and had good crops especially 36. Late afternoon there was rain and a threatened storm – Lady covering them as well as she could. The rain did not last long and later she was settled by them for the night.

Ērgļu ligzdas dienasgrāmata – 22. septembris

Lady nakti pavadīja blakus mazuļiem uz ligzdas malas, bet agri no rīta pamodās ar duetu. Pirmo zivi viņa atnesa plkst. 9:47 un pabaroja abus. SE36 saņēma vairāk, jo SE35 lielāko daļu laika turējās malā.
Agrā pēcpusdienā Lady atnesa putnu un pabaroja abus, SE36 ātri nostājās priekšā, lai sāktu ēst pirmais. Šodien Lady bija galvenā medniece – nedaudz pirms plkst. 15:00 viņa atnesa jaunu kaiju. Viņa iedeva dažus kumosus, tad sāka plūkt, atkal pabaroja, un pēc tam aiznesa to, lai turpinātu plūkšanu. Kad viņa atgriezās, abi mazuļi ēda, un guzas bija labi piepildītas – īpaši SE36.
Vēlā pēcpusdienā uznāca lietus un draudēja vētra – Lady centās mazuļus pasargāt, cik vien labi spēja. Lietus nebija ilgs, un vēlāk viņa apmetās blakus mazuļiem uz nakti.

23.septembris

September 23: after the rain stopped last night, Lady slept beside the nestlings. Very early duets, with the youngsters joining in – then a mating and Lady was off. We saw 35 expel its first pellet that we have definitely seen. Both had eaten lots of feathers in yesterday’s feeds. They spent the morning then, poking around in the nest and enjoying the sunshine –after a very cold night. They are flapping their little wings, standing to PS over the edge and investigating the nest –developing skills. Finally a gull chick was delivered by Lady and she fed them both. 35 picked though the feathers and found the little foot and swallowed it. She brought another chick in just after 1pm – 36 was very quick to leap forward to claim it – and fed well, though 35 ate too – it didn’t last long. After a while Dad bought another gull chick and started feeding until Lady came in with another chick and took over the feeding herself. Then they were just resting and we saw Dad down on River roost in the afternoon, swooped by a magpie as he sat. Just after 6pm Lady returned to roost nearby.

23. septembris: pēc tam, kad lietus vakar vakarā beidzās, Lady gulēja blakus ligzdas mazuļiem. Ļoti agri no rīta viņi dziedāja duetā, mazuļi pievienojās – tad notika pārošanās, un Lady aizlidoja. Mēs redzējām, kā se 35 izgrūda savu pirmo gremošanas atliekas bumbiņu – pirmo, ko esam skaidri novērojuši. Abi bija apēduši daudz spalvu vakardienas barošanās laikā. Rītu viņi pavadīja, grozoties ligzdā un baudot sauli pēc ļoti aukstas nakts. Viņi vicināja savus mazos spārnus, stāvēja uz ligzdas malas, lai izkārnītos, un izpētīja ligzdu – attīstot prasmes.
Beidzot Lady atnesa kaijas cālīti un pabaroja abus. se 35 izšķetināja spalvas, atrada mazo kājiņu un to norija. Pēc pulksten 13 viņa atnesa vēl vienu cālīti – se 36 ļoti ātri metās to paņemt un labi paēda, lai gan arī se 35 ēda – tas ilgi neturpinājās. Pēc kāda laika tēvs atnesa vēl vienu kaijas cālīti un sāka barot, līdz Lady ieradās ar vēl vienu cālīti un pārņēma barošanu. Pēc tam viņi vienkārši atpūtās, un pēcpusdienā mēs redzējām tēvu lejā pie upes ligzdas, kur viņam uzbruka sīlis, kamēr viņš sēdēja. Nedaudz pēc pulksten 18 Lady atgriezās, lai nakšņotu netālu.

24.septembris

September 24: Lady was by the nestlings all night, then off and away early. The nestlings were poking about in the nest and flapping. SE36 produced its first pellet (after all those gull feathers) –with 35 poking it in interest. Dad brought a chunk of chicken skin and a bit of carcass just after 7am – followed by Lady. She fed bits of the skin and Dad a little of the flesh at the same time. Both ate only a little bit and Dad flew off with the carcass scrap. Not very satisfying. Just after 1pm Lady bought another gull chick and fed bird prey to both in very windy conditions. 36 probably got most during that feed. Shortly after at 15:42, Lady bought a chick, with 36 very quick to rush up. Lady took it off after a couple of minutes, both getting only a few bites. 36 managed to swallow a little webbed foot. Their own feet look too big and clumsy and their talons have tuned dark now. Late afternoon they were resting together, whining for more food. then a last offering from Lady again–it seems another gull. 36 was very quick to rush up and both ate –though again it didn’t last long.

24. septembris: Lady (māte) visu nakti bija pie mazuļiem, bet agri no rīta aizlidoja. Mazuļi grozījās ligzdā un vicināja spārnus. SE36 izdalīja savu pirmo barības atliekas bumbiņu (pēc visām tām kaijas spalvām), un se35 to ziņkārīgi pētīja. Tēvs nedaudz pēc plkst. 7 atnesa gabalu vistas ādas un nelielu kadavra daļu – viņam sekoja Lady. Viņa baroja ar ādas gabaliņiem, bet tēvs vienlaikus ar nelielu gaļas daļu. Abi apēda tikai mazliet, un tēvs aizlidoja ar pārpalikumu. Ēdiens nebija īpaši apmierinošs.

Nedaudz pēc plkst. 13 Lady atnesa vēl vienu kaijas mazuli un baroja abus mazuļus ļoti vējainos apstākļos. se36, visticamāk, saņēma lielāko daļu barības. Neilgi pēc tam, plkst. 15:42, Lady atnesa vēl vienu cālīti, un se 36 strauji pieskrēja klāt. Lady pēc pāris minūtēm to paņēma prom, abi saņēma tikai dažus kumosus. se36 izdevās norīt nelielu pleznainu kājiņu. Viņu pašu kājas izskatās pārāk lielas un neveiklas, un nagi tagad ir kļuvuši tumši.

Vēlā pēcpusdienā viņi atpūtās kopā, čīkstot pēc vēl barības. Tad Lady atnesa pēdējo maltīti – šķiet, atkal kaiju. se36 strauji pieskrēja klāt, abi ēda, bet arī šī maltīte nebija ilga.

25.septembris

September 25: Lady slept on a branch nearby last night, coming in very early for duets – with the young ones joining in – a mating - then off well before 6am. 36 coughed up a pellet very early –something for both to investigate. Dad was seen later down on River Roost. A sunny morning, with the young ones waiting, stretching, flapping, picking at things. Finally part of a fish brought by Lady at 12:23 –and she fed them both, though not much. Both were snatching at the fish. 35 was standing to eat, and both are standing well at other times. Lady has a couple of loose feathers. Then they were waiting and calling for more. Late afternoon, still no delivery. Lady came in nearby on a windy night, then to the nest beside them.

25.septembris: Mamma nakti pārlaida uz tuvējā zara, ieradās ļoti agri, lai dziedātu duetā – pievienojās arī jaunie – notika pārošanās – un viņa aizlidoja jau pirms 6:00. Se 36 agri no rīta izklepoja barības bumbiņu – ko abi izpētīja. Tēvs vēlāk tika manīts pie upes. Saulaina rīta stundā jaunie gaidīja, izstiepa spārnus, vicināja tos, knibinājās gar dažādām lietām. Beidzot 12:23 Dāma atnesa daļu zivis – viņa pabaroja abus, lai gan ne pārāk daudz. Abi centās satvert zivi. Se 35 ēda stāvot, un abi arī citos brīžos labi stāv. Mammai ir pāris izbirušu spalvu. Pēc tam viņi gaidīja un sauca pēc vēl. Vēlā pēcpusdienā piegādes joprojām nebija. Vējainā naktī Dāma ieradās tuvumā, tad pievienojās ligzdā blakus viņiem.

26.septembris

September 26: the nestlings slept alone again last night, with Lady nearby and Dad not seen. She left early and returned with a gull chick just after 6am. A hungry 35 rushed forward and probably ate most this feed. Later they were both poking at an old feathery pellet in the bowl. Lady was seen down on the river then. We were glad to see Dad in with a gull chick around 9:30 -36 rushed up and claimed it, mantling and trying to eat a little before Lady came in and fed them – with 36 trying hard to keep it. Both ate though 36 had more this time. A duet, then Lady was off. 36 is quite vocal now. Both are standing more and gaining skills –at 6 weeks. More food when Lady brought in a big eel at midday – 36 ate very well, then 35. 36 continued to eat until it finally turned aside, with a massive crop – then 35 started to eat again. When 35 started to turn aside, Lady was eating herself –when Dad flew in and there was quite a struggle as Lady protected her eel. She left and Dad ate some of the remains. Both nestlings had eaten their fill already, Lady returned, Dad left and 36 ate even more –then he came back and finished it off. Phew, what an eel meal. They followed it all off with a mating. Lady came to sit by them around 2:30, on a windy afternoon. She left late and they slept in the nest –though still windy. Last thing they were waiting on the nest – couldn’t possibly be hungry.

26. septembris: mazuļi atkal gulēja vieni pagājušajā naktī, mamma bija tuvumā, bet tēvs nebija redzams. Viņa aizlidoja agri un atgriezās ar kaijas cāli nedaudz pēc 6:00. Izsalkušais se 35 metās uz priekšu un, visticamāk, apēda lielāko daļu barības. Vēlāk abi knibinājās pie vecas spalvainas barības atliekas . Lady tika manīta lejā pie upes. Mums bija prieks redzēt tēvu ar kaijas cāli ap 9:30 – se 36 metās tam virsū, aizsargājot un mēģinot ēst, līdz Lady ieradās un pabaroja viņus – se 36 ļoti centās to paturēt. Abi paēda, lai gan se36 šoreiz dabūja vairāk. Pēc dueta Lady aizlidoja. se 36 tagad ir diezgan skaļš. Abi vairāk stāv kājās un attīsta prasmes – jau 6 nedēļas veci. Vēl vairāk barības, kad Lady pusdienlaikā atnesa lielu zuti – se 36 ēda ļoti labi, tad se 35.se 36 turpināja ēst, līdz beidzot novērsās ar milzīgu guzu – tad se 35 sāka ēst vēlreiz. Kad se35 novērsās, Lady pati sāka ēst – tad ielidoja tēvs un sākās pamatīga cīņa, jo Lady aizsargāja savu zuti. Viņa aizlidoja, un tēvs apēda daļu palikušā. Abi mazuļi jau bija paēduši, Lady atgriezās, tēvs aizlidoja, un se36 ēda vēl vairāk – tad viņš atgriezās un apēda visu līdz galam. Uhh, kāda zuša maltīte. Pēc tam vecāki pārojās. Lady apsēdās blakus ap 14:30, vējainā pēcpusdienā. Viņa aizlidoja vēlu, un mazuļi gulēja ligzdā – lai gan joprojām bija vējains. Pēdējā lieta – viņi gaidīja ligzdā – nav iespējams, ka vēl būtu izsalkuši.

27.septembris

September 27: a very early start with duets around 5am, all joining in – then mating and both eagles were off before 6am. Dad was seen shortly after down on River Roost. During the early morning Lady brought in leaves a couple of times and removed pellets, then she was away for the day. The nestlings are wing flapping and standing up, picking at things in the nest. Pin feathers under 36’s wings are obvious now. They were waiting all morning then, on a warm day – calling for food on and off. When Dad brought leaves – they rushed up – nothing. Finally both jumped up as Dad brought in the remains of a gull chick then left it there. Both mantled over it, though 35 got it and self-fed well for the first time, standing to eat then sitting down after a while. 36 managed to sneak a couple of bites too. Dad returned at 3:30 with half an old, tough fish – and fed 35 very well. At the end, 36 managed to steal a few bites, was fed a little and found a bit of bird flesh as well. 35 ate the most both feeds. A day of milestones at 6 weeks –both standing well without wings as balance, quick to mantle over prey, 35 first real long self-feed and 36 a few bites of self-feeding too.

27. septembris: Ļoti agrs rīts ar duetu ap plkst. 5:00, visi pievienojās – tad pārošanās, un abi ērgļi bija prom pirms plkst. 6:00. Tēvs tika manīts drīz pēc tam lejā pie upes. Agrā rītā Dāma vairākas reizes atnesa lapas un izņēma barības atliekas, tad devās prom uz visu dienu. Ligzdas mazuļi vicināja spārnus, stāvēja kājās un knibinājās pie lietām ligzdā. Spalvu kārtiņas zem se36 spārniem tagad ir skaidri redzamas. Viņi visu rītu gaidīja, siltā dienā – ik pa laikam saucot pēc barības. Kad Tēvs atnesa lapas – viņi metās klāt – bet nekā. Beidzot abi uzlēca, kad Tēvs atnesa kaijas cāļa atliekas un atstāja tās tur. Abi tās sargāja, bet se35 ieguva tās un pirmo reizi veiksmīgi barojās pats – stāvot kājās, ēda, tad apsēdās. se36 arī izdevās izdabūt dažus kumosus. Tēvs atgriezās plkst. 15:30 ar pusi vecas, cietas zivs – un labi pabaroja se35. Dienas beigās se36 izdevās nozagt dažus kumosus, tika mazliet pabarots un atrada arī nedaudz putna gaļas. se35 apēda visvairāk abās ēdienreizēs. Sasniegumu diena 6 nedēļu vecumā – abi stabili stāv bez spārnu palīdzības līdzsvaram, ātri sargā barību, se35 pirmā ilgā pašbarošanās un se36 arī daži pašbarošanās kumosi.

28.septembris

September 28: There were early duets again at first light, with a mating –then off. Lady returned before 6:30 with another gull chick. 36 was very quick to mantle over it, had a couple of bites then Lady took over. She fed 35, then 36 a little as well. Around 9am when Dad brought a bream, the same thing happened -36 mantled, 35 took over and ate a little, then Dad fed 35, with 36 getting some at the end. Lady was back with a young gull again at 10:44 feeding feathers & meat to both. A good feed for 36, 35 turned away after eating enough. Then more when Dad brought part of an eel, Lady feeding them both. And more when she bought another eel – both ate and there was eel left over, as they were both very satisfied. Lady remained alert standing on the nest by the left-overs. She offered a few more bites, but neither was enthusiastic – and ate a little herself before moving off. Both were too full to self-feed. Late afternoon both adults were down on River Roost. Lady came to the nest at last light, as 35 was investigating the eel – she didn’t offer food and 35 turned away as well – 36 showed no interest at all. Lady then moved above the nest to roost.

28. septembris: Rītausmā atkal bija agrīni dueti, notika pārošanās – un tad viņi aizlidoja. Dāma atgriezās pirms 6:30 ar vēl vienu kaijas cāli. se36 uzreiz to aizsedza ar spārniem, paņēma pāris kumosus, tad mamma pārņēma. Viņa pabaroja se35, pēc tam nedaudz arī se36. Ap pulksten 9, kad Tētis atnesa breksi, notika tas pats – se36 aizsedza, se35 pārņēma un nedaudz paēda, tad Tētis pabaroja se 35, un se36 dabūja beigās. Dāma atgriezās ar jaunu kaiju pulksten 10:44, barojot abus ar spalvām un gaļu. se36 labi paēda, se35 novērsās pēc tam, kad bija pietiekami paēdis. Vēl vairāk ēdiena bija, kad Tētis atnesa daļu zuša – Dāma pabaroja abus. Un vēl, kad viņa atnesa vēl vienu zuti – abi ēda, un zutis palika pāri, jo abi bija ļoti apmierināti. Mamma palika modra, stāvot ligzdā pie atlikušā ēdiena. Viņa piedāvāja vēl dažus kumosus, bet neviens nebija ieinteresēts – un pati nedaudz paēda, pirms aizlidoja. Abi bija pārāk pilni, lai paši ēstu. Vēlā pēcpusdienā abi pieaugušie bija lejā pie upes. Mamma atgriezās ligzdā krēslā, kad se35 pētīja zuti – viņa nepiedāvāja ēdienu, un se 35 arī novērsās – se36 vispār neizrādīja interesi. Tad Dāma pārvietojās virs ligzdas, lai nakšņotu.

29.septembris

September 29: an early duet then Lady fed the left-over eel – 35 pushed in at first then both ate. She offered a last large piece which 36 snatched, then couldn’t swallow – so she ate it herself. Dad came in while she was feeding, but left again. One was seen down on River Roost shortly after. It was a warm morning, with both moving about in the sun, flapping and fiddling with nest materials – waiting for more food. Around 1:30 Lady came in with bid prey, along with a talon-full of greenery from their nest site - de-feathering it then and feeding both. They then rested together in the feathery bowl – with Lady in the forest nearby. A currawong could be heard bothering her. Around 4:30 Dad flew in with part of a fish and started feeding them – Lady took over when she arrived with a gull chick and continued feeding. So another good feeding day. At dark, parents were nearby for the night.

29. septembris: agrs duets, pēc tam Lady baroja ar palikušo zuti – se35 sākumā pirmais, tad abi ēda. Viņa piedāvāja pēdējo lielo gabalu, kuru se36 sagrāba, bet nespēja norīt – tāpēc Lady to apēda pati. Tētis ieradās barošanas laikā, bet drīz devās prom. Drīz pēc tam viens tika manīts lejā pie River Roost. Rīts bija silts, abi kustējās saulē, plivinājās un ņēmās ar ligzdas materiāliem – gaidot vairāk barības. Ap 13:30 Lady atnesa lielu medījumu, kopā ar ķetnās satvertu zaļumu no ligzdas vietas – vispirms to apspalvoja un tad baroja abus. Pēc tam viņi kopā atpūtās spalvainajā ligzdas iedobē – Lady atradās tuvējā mežā. Varēja dzirdēt, kā currawong viņu traucē. Ap 16:30 Tētis atlidoja ar daļu zivju un sāka barot – Lady pārņēma, kad ieradās ar kaijas cāli un turpināja barošanu. Vēl viena laba barošanas diena. Tumšajā laikā vecāki bija tuvumā naktsmieram.

30.septembris

September 30: an owl flew past last night, but did not disturb them. Both left early in the morning. The nestlings were waiting on the nest, fiddling as usual, until Lady brought leaves at 8:11. Then just before 9am she brought a big mullet, which she fed to both. Some time later she brought another fish, a bream. This time 36 ate more. After she left Dad came to the nest and starting feeding them a little. When Lady came back her fed her a little too. Shortly after 35 had a short attempt at self-feeding. Later Lady managed another short feeding to 35. She spent time on the nest with them in the sun, leaving just after 3pm – Dad still eating the last of the fish on a branch nearby. He returned though and fed 36 a little. Both were off then returning just before 5pm, with a duet. 35 was casually sitting right on the nest rim, grooming and waiting – then flapping energetically, and 36 too. Lady came to the nest at 6pm, then roosting nearby. Dad came in as well then.



30. septembris: Naktī garām aizlidoja pūce, bet netraucēja viņus. Abi pieaugušie putni aizlidoja agri no rīta. Ligzdā palikušie mazuļi gaidīja, kā parasti grozoties, līdz Lady (māte) plkst. 8:11 atnesa lapas. Tieši pirms 9:00 viņa atnesa lielu kefali, ar kuru pabaroja abus. Vēlāk viņa atnesa vēl vienu zivi – breksi. Šoreiz vairāk ēda se36. Kad Lady aizlidoja, ligzdā ieradās tēvs un mazliet pabaroja mazuļus. Kad Lady atgriezās, viņš nedaudz pabaroja arī viņu. Neilgi pēc tam se35 mēģināja pats sevi pabarot. Vēlāk Lady īsi pabaroja se35. Viņa pavadīja laiku ligzdā kopā ar mazuļiem saulē, aizlidojot nedaudz pēc plkst. 15:00 – tēvs joprojām ēda pēdējo zivi uz tuvējā zara. Viņš tomēr atgriezās un nedaudz pabaroja se36. Abi pieaugušie bija prom, bet atgriezās tieši pirms plkst. 17:00, dziedot duetā se35 mierīgi sēdēja uz ligzdas malas, pucējās un gaidīja – tad enerģiski plivināja spārnus, arī se36. Plkst. 18:00 Lady atgriezās ligzdā, pēc tam apmetās tuvumā uz nakšņošanu. Tēvs arī ieradās tajā laikā.
