November 11: a cooler day. One watcher reported an eagle on the island around 7am, then saw a fish caught – moving between River Roost and the island. The parent appeared to eat the fish. Then I saw one adult on the island after 8am, and at one stage it circled back to River Roost and then to the island again. Later in the morning both adults were there on the river and duets heard. Again in the afternoon the adults were calling and moving between their favourite roosting places. Ravens were very active near the nest in the evening, calling loudly.

11. novembris: vēsāka diena. Kāds vērotājs ziņoja par ērgli salā ap pulksten 7:00, pēc tam ieraudzīja noķertu zivi, kas pārvietojās starp Roostas upi un salu. Šķita, ka vecāks ēd zivis. Tad es redzēju vienu pieaugušo uz salas pēc pulksten 8:00, un vienā posmā tas riņķoja atpakaļ uz River Roost un tad atkal uz salu. Vēlāk no rīta abi pieaugušie atradās uz upes un dzirdēja duetus. Atkal pēcpusdienā pieaugušie zvanīja un pārvietojās starp savām iecienītākajām riesta vietām. Pie ligzdas vakarā ļoti aktīvi darbojās kraukļi, kas skaļi sauca.

November 12: We are sad to report that our younger juvenile SE34 has been euthanased. She received loving care after being found far from home, (see the attached photo) but after further veterinary assessment her future was not deemed possible. Severe eye problems and lack of vision in one eye meant she was virtually blind and would probably be in pain. Life is hard for newly fledged raptors.
Unfortunately the other juvenile has also been found injured and is in care for further assessment. We are waiting for further information on SE33’s condition and future now and shall keep our followers informed.
Life is difficult for juvenile Sea-eagles, particularly in the city. But we shall keep watching and monitoring their progress in the future.

News from the Nest: November 12: Ringtail Possums visited again in the night and in the morning, noisy Rainbow Lorikeets visited and argued nearby. As you will have seen, there are no juveniles about on the river now. Early morning both adults were on the island, and later in the morning 2 eagles were reported near Goat Island closer to the city. Maybe our eagles? At around 3:30 one adult was seen landing on the island. It then moved between the island and River Roost – then finally up high and away. Early evening, one adult could still be seen at river roost. We shall keep watching and waiting for news of SE33.

Ziņas no Ligzdas: 12. novembris: Naktī un no rīta atkal viesojās gredzenaste Possums, netālu viesojās un strīdējās trokšņainie varavīksnes loriketi. Kā jūs jau būsiet redzējis, uz upes tagad nav mazuļu. Agrā rītā abi pieaugušie atradās uz salas, un vēlāk no rīta tika ziņots par 2 ērgļiem netālu no Kazu salas tuvāk pilsētai. Varbūt mūsu ērgļi? Ap pulksten 15:30 viens pieaugušais tika manīts nolaižamies uz salas. Pēc tam tas pārvietojās starp salu un Roostas upi – tad beidzot augšā un prom. Agrā vakarā pie upes riesta vēl bija manāms viens pieaugušais. Mēs turpināsim skatīties un gaidīt ziņas par SE33.

I have just heard good news about SE33: He has no fractures;is in reasonable condition. though a little thin; he has eaten. His progress will be reviewed in a couple of days- to rest and recover, and to gain condition. He has been judged a male, from his measurements. So good to hear.
Poor SE34 was in fact blind in both eyes, (cause unknown) which was the reason for her euthanasia.

Late afternoon, neither was seen again. Eagles seem to be spending time elsewhere for some of the day now. Daisy Duck has not turned up at the nest today. November 15: a brief report – early morning, one adult was seen down on the river on the island. The Pacific Black Duck turned up again briefly on the nest, checked things out, then left. Late afternoon, 2 eagles were at Goat Island area, closer to the City. They seem to be moving between home on the river and Goat Island. We are waiting for news of SE33, still resting and recovering condition.

15. novembris: īsa atskaite – agrā rītā uz salas upē manīts viens pieaugušais. Klusā okeāna melnā pīle atkal uz īsu brīdi parādījās ligzdā, pārbaudīja lietas un pēc tam aizgāja. Vēlā pēcpusdienā 2 ērgļi atradās Kazu salas rajonā, tuvāk pilsētai. Šķiet, ka viņi pārvietojas starp mājām upē un Kazu salu. Gaidām ziņas par SE33, joprojām atpūšas un atgūstas.

November 16: early morning eagles were seen at Goat Island. Then no reports until at 3:40 one arrived at Mangrove Island, Shortly after it caught a small fish, then back to the island to eat. At 5pm, just one still seen there. SE33 is resting and recovering – gaining strength.

16. novembris: agrā rīta ērgļi tika manīti Kazu salā. Pēc tam bez ziņojumiem līdz pulksten 15:40 viens ieradās Mangrove salā. Neilgi pēc tam tā noķēra mazu zivi, pēc tam atpakaļ uz salu ēst. 17:00 tur joprojām bija redzams tikai viens. SE33 atpūšas un atveseļojas – pieņemas spēkā.

November 20; another quiet day, with no eagles on the river early morning. Just before 4pm, both adults appeared at the river from the west, circling then off over the wetlands. Just after 6pm then one was at Goat Island. It is the quiet time of the year.

20. novembris; kārtējā klusā diena, bez ērgļiem upē agrā rītā. Īsi pirms pulksten 16.00 abi pieaugušie parādījās pie upes no rietumiem, riņķojot un pēc tam pāri mitrājiem. Tikai pēc pulksten 18:00 viens bija Kazu salā. Ir gada klusais laiks.

November 22: Only cheeky cockatoos were on the nest early. No eagles were seen at the river for most of the day until late afternoon when both circled over and then headed east again. Eagles were seen at Goat Island for most of the day. SE33 is still resting and recovering – no further news.

22. novembris: ligzdā agri atradās tikai nekaunīgi kakadu. Lielāko dienas daļu pie upes ērgļi netika manīti līdz vēlai pēcpusdienai, kad abi apgriezās un pēc tam atkal devās uz austrumiem. Ērgļi bija redzami Kazu salā lielāko dienas daļu. SE33 joprojām atpūšas un atveseļojas – nekādu citu ziņu.

4November 23: again the eagles spent the day away. They were not seen at the river early – later were at Goat Island and one seen there trying for a fish. Late afternoon one was seen flying there, then heading towards the city and Darling Harbour and then towards Burns Bay.

23. novembris: atkal ērgļi pavadīja dienu prom. Agri pie upes viņi nebija manīti – vēlāk atradās Kazu salā un viens tur mēģināja pēc zivs. Vēlā pēcpusdienā viens tika manīts lidojam tur, pēc tam virzoties uz pilsētu un Dārlingas ostu un tad uz Bērnsas līci.

November 24: eagles were out and about all morning and not reported until the late afternoon down on the river, circling high overhead. One was seen on Mangrove island later, then heading off again. There is no further news of SE33 to report.

24. novembris: ērgļi atradās ārā visu rītu un neziņoja līdz vēlai pēcpusdienai upē, riņķojot augstu virs galvas. Viens vēlāk tika redzēts Mangrovju salā, pēc tam atkal devās ceļā. Nav citu ziņu par SE33.

November 29: one eagle was seen at the river early, flying from the west to River roost. Possums again visited in the night and 3 cockatoos were at the nest in the morning. Cockies were around again in the afternoon and seen at their nest hollow nearby. Eagle was seen at Goat Island in the afternoon and one at River roost – they are moving around. We have good reports of SE33 in rehab care.
