September 1: a sunny warmer day. We do not know the activity in the morning or over night. When our cameras were restored after 3pm, Lady was eating a fish and chicks had been eating, with full crops. Then feeding continued in the afternoon, with parents eating too. Dad brought in a bream around 3:30. It seems a good day for prey and feeding. Late afternoon Lady settled over the chicks.- or partly covered them as they are growing bigger. Dad took the left-over bream to eat nearby.

1. septembris: saulaina, siltāka diena. Mēs nezinām aktivitāti no rīta vai naktī. Kad mūsu kameras tika atjaunotas pēc pulksten 15:00, Lēdija ēda zivi, un mazuļi bija ēduši, ar pilnu guzu. Pēc tam barošana turpinājās pēcpusdienā, un arī vecāki ēda. Tētis ap pulksten 15:30 atnesa plaudi. Šķiet, ka tā ir laba diena medījumam un barošanai. Vēlā pēcpusdienā Lēdija nosēdās virs mazuļiem vai daļēji tos apsedza, jo tie auga lielāki. Tētis paņēma atlikušo plaudi, lai to paēstu netālu.

Diena skaista, saulaina. LĒdija pēc naksts bija atgājusi no mazuļiem, bet vēlāk tomēr atgriežas pasildīt

Rīta cēliens tā arī paiet laiskojoties, gaidot brokastis, kuras starp citu neatlidoja. Mazie nesagaidīja pusdienas. Vecāki ilgu laiku nebija redzami kameras zonā. Beidzot Papiņš atnes zivi. Abi paēda. Vairāk protams dabūja vecākais.

Jaunākajam tika astīte no zivs. Dienas nogalē mamma kārtojas pie bērniem uz nakts guļu. Domājams ,ka vēlo vakariņu nebūs.

September 2: as the chicks are growing, Lady is sleeping beside them at times now, with the 2 youngsters huddled together in the bowl. She was away early in the morning, after several duets. Both eagles were away until around 10am, when Dad brought a big stick, followed by Lady with leaves. Then more leaves during the day– a green bowl – but no prey. Finally Dad brought a bream in at 3:35 – taken by Lady to feed the hungry chicks. 35 pushed forward and after some time eating, grabbed and shook 36 when it moved up to eat. 36 was then head down and submissive until 35 had eaten well – then ate too. They were alone again then, and waiting – with parents nearby at times. Last light – Dad with more leaves. Then Lady returned to the nest just before 6pm, settling on them as well as she could.

2. septembris: Kamēr mazuļi aug, Lady (māte) dažkārt guļ viņiem blakus, abi jaunie putni cieši satupuši ligzdas iedobē. No rīta agri viņa bija prom, pēc vairākiem duetu saucieniem. Abi ērglēni bija vieni līdz apmēram 10:00, kad tēvs atnesa lielu zaru, un Lady sekoja ar lapām. Dienas laikā tika atnestas vēl lapas – ligzda kļuva zaļa –, bet medījumu nebija. Beidzot tēvs 15:35 atnesa breksi, ko Lady paņēma, lai pabarotu izsalkušos mazuļus. Se 35 izvirzījās priekšplānā un, pēc kāda laika ēdot, satvēra un iekaustīja se 36., kad tas mēģināja piekļūt barībai. se36 tad nolieca galvu un uzvedās padevīgi, līdz se35. bija paēdis – tad ēda arī pats. Pēc tam viņi atkal bija vieni, gaidot, kamēr vecāki laiku pa laikam bija tuvumā. Pēdējā gaismā – tēvs ar vēl lapām. Lady atgriezās ligzdā tieši pirms 18:00, cenšoties apgulties uz mazuļiem, cik labi vien spēja.

Possum neighbours passing, then settled again until her early morning duet with Dad. Both were then off and away. Dad was above the nest just after 8am, with hungry chicks below in the nest. He brought more leaves in several times, with chicks begging. Both are showing developing pin feathers. Dad brought in a leatherjacket at 11:38 – followed by Lady who began feeding with it straight away. She fed 35 first, with 36 head down, submissive, then 36 ate as well. Then they were alone again, with Dad still bringing in leaves. Later in the day he brought 2 more fish –both chicks eventually eating well. They were fed 3 good meals today – with Dad just offering 36 a little scrap after one of the feeds. Lady settled by the chicks early evening then off again – both satisfied chicks curled together in the bowl.

Oposumi gāja garām, tad atkal nomierinājās, līdz viņas agrā rīta duetam ar tēti. Tad abi bija prom. Tētis bija virs ligzdas īsi pēc pulksten 8:00 no rīta, un apakšā ligzdā bija izsalkuši mazuļi. Viņš vairākas reizes atnesa vēl lapas, un cāļi lūdza. Abiem parādās augošas spalvas. Tētis pulksten 11:38 atnesa zivi, un pēc tam sekoja lēdija, kura uzreiz sāka ar to barot. Viņa vispirms pabaroja se 35, se 36 ar noliektām galvām, pakļāvīgi, tad arī se 36 ēda. Tad viņi atkal bija vieni, un tētis joprojām atnesa lapas. Vēlāk tajā pašā dienā viņš atnesa vēl 2 zivis - abi cāļi galu galā labi paēda. Šodien viņi tika labi pabaroti - tētis pēc vienas barošanas piedāvāja se36 mazu gabaliņu. Lēdija agri vakarā nokārtojās pie cāļiem un tad atkal devās prom - abi apmierināti cāļi saritinājušies kopā bļodā.

4.septembris

September 4: During the night Lady moved from beside the sleeping chicks to the nest rim – moving closer to them again later. She fed them very early with fish leftovers- both ate. Their feathers are growing in, and it gets itchy. Around 9:30 dad brought a stick in –dropped on top of the youngsters. It was getting quite windy too. Later during the day he brought in 4 fish and Lady one as well. In spite of some pecking from 35, both did eat well, with full crops at end of day. They were fed 5 times, both full at end of day. Dad fed them a few bites and fed Lady a little as well. Lady settled by them at end of day. A satisfying day for all.

4. septembris: Naktī Lēdija pārvietojās no guļošo mazuļu blakus uz ligzdas malu – vēlāk atkal pietuvojās tiem. Ļoti agri viņa tos baroja ar zivju pārpalikumiem – abi ēda. Viņu spalvas aug, un sāk niezēt. Ap pulksten 9:30 tētis atnesa kociņu – uzmeta to mazuļiem virsū. Kļuva arī diezgan vējains. Vēlāk dienā viņš atnesa 4 zivis un Lēdija arī vienu. Neskatoties uz nelielu knābāšanu no se35, abi paēda labi, dienas beigās ar pilnu ražu. Tās tika barotas 5 reizes, dienas beigās abi paēda. Tētis tās pabaroja ar dažiem kumosiem un nedaudz pabaroja arī Lēdiju. Dienas beigās Lēdija apmetās pie tām. Apmierinoša diena visiem.

5.septembris

September 5: Lady was awake very early and fed them leftovers. Both parents brought in more leaves after. Nestlings were basking in the sun, preening their emerging feathers. During the day Dad brought in 2 fish and Lady one as well – another good prey day and the nestlings ate well. As usual at this stage, 35 mostly ate first, with 36 following. Then both sleeping there with full crops. Lady returned to the nest just before 6pm – the youngsters are uncovered on the nest all day now in between feeds. She settled then behind them in the nest.

5. septembris: Māte pamodās ļoti agri un pabaroja mazuļus ar pārtikas pārpalikumiem. Abi vecāki pēc tam atnesa vēl lapas. Mazuļi gozējās saulē, pucēdami savas izšķilušās spalvas. Dienas laikā tētis atnesa 2 zivtiņas un Māte arī vienu – vēl viena laba medījuma diena, un mazuļi labi paēda. Kā parasti šajā posmā, vispirms lielākoties paēda se35, kam sekoja se36. Tad abi gulēja tur ar pilnu guzu. Māte atgriezās ligzdā īsi pirms pulksten 18:00 – tagad mazuļi visu dienu starp barošanas reizēm atrodas ligzdā neapsegti. Tad viņa apmetās ligzdā aiz tiem.

6.septembris

September 6: Lady slept most of the night beside the chicks, huddled together in the bowl. An early start, with a couple of duets –then away. The chicks are more alert to passing action, tuning their heads and tracking as something flies by. They also “played” with a scrap in the nest –developing skills. Dad brought a casuarina spray around 9:30 –the chicks, woke, then grooming their itchy feathers. Lady followed shortly after with more leaves. During the day both brought more leaves, with duets and mating. Is there an intruder around? The chicks also were picking up sticks and leaves – more learning. Finally prey – Dad brought a fish which was grabbed by Lady. She started feeding an as expected when they are hungry, 35 dominated the feed – 36 had very little. Dad then came back with scrap, fed himself and maybe one bite for 36. Then he brought a gull later, plucking it and eating himself – feeding 35, a little for 36. SE36 picked up a little gull foot and tried to swallow it – but dropped it. Then Lady came in with a fish, feeding 36 as 35 was too full. Then Dad with another fish – a great day for prey and feeding at the end.

6. septembris: Lēdija lielāko nakts daļu gulēja blakus cāļiem, saspiedušies kopā bļodā. Agrs sākums, ar pāris duetiem – tad prom. Cāļi ir modrāki uz garāmlidojošām kustībām, noregulē galvas un izseko, kad kaut kas lido garām. Viņi arī "spēlējās" ar sīkumiem ligzdā – attīstot prasmes. Tētis ap pulksten 9:30 atnesa kazuarīnu – cāļi pamodās un tad sakopa niezošās spalvas. Lēdija drīz sekoja ar vēl lapām. Dienas laikā abi atnesa vēl lapas, ar duetiem un pārošanos. Vai apkārt ir kāds iebrucējs? Cāļi arī lasīja zariņus un lapas – vēl vairāk mācību. Visbeidzot, medījums – tētis atnesa zivi, kuru Lēdija satvēra. Viņa sāka barot, un, kā jau bija gaidāms, kad cāļi ir izsalkuši, se35 dominēja pār barību – se36 bija ļoti maz. Tad tētis atgriezās ar sīkumiem, paēda pats un varbūt vienu kumosu se36. Tad vēlāk viņš atnesa kaiju, to noplūca un apēda – pabarojot se35, nedaudz se36. SE36 pacēla mazu kaijas kājiņu un mēģināja to norīt – bet nometa to. Tad ienāca lēdija ar zivi, pabarojot se36, jo se35 bija par pilnu. Tad tētis ar vēl vienu zivi – lieliska diena medījumam un barošanai beigās.

7.septembris

September 7: last evening there was even more prey as Dad brought in a good fish –Lady fed 36 first from the older fish, then 35 and some of the new fish – both were really full and she settled over them at dark. She again slept beside them –and awake very early at first light. She fed them last night’s fish – 35 first, then 36. He brought in some chicken skin after 10am, 36 was quick to move close and both ate well – later panting and enjoying the warm sun. Chicks were alone on the nest –then Lady brought in a pigeon at 2:15. She took it off to pluck then returned to feed – more to 35. Dad came in for the carcass and fed them both as well. Another good feed day. 36 picked up a left-over, but dropped it again. Late afternoon, Dad brought a whiting and then another small fish – both ate even more. What a day. At end of day, more duets. Will Lady come back to sleep by them?

7. septembris: Vakarvakarā medījuma bija vēl vairāk, jo tētis atnesa labu zivi – Lēdija vispirms pabaroja se36 no vecākajām zivīm, tad se35 un dažas no jaunajām zivīm – abi bija patiešām paēduši, un, kad tumsa, viņa nosēdās virs tām. Viņa atkal gulēja blakus tām un pamodās ļoti agri, rītausmā. Viņa pabaroja tās ar iepriekšējās nakts zivīm – vispirms se 35, tad se 36. Viņš atnesa vistas ādu pēc pulksten 10:00, se 36 ātri pietuvojās tuvāk, un abi labi paēda – vēlāk elsojot un baudot silto sauli. Cāļi bija vieni ligzdā – tad Lēdija pulksten 14:15 atnesa balodi. Viņa to noņēma, lai noplūktu, tad atgriezās, lai pabarotu – vēl se 35. Tētis ienāca pēc maitas un pabaroja arī viņus abus. Vēl viena laba barošanas diena. se 36 paņēma pārpalikumu, bet atkal to nometa. Vēlā pēcpusdienā tētis atnesa mencu un tad vēl vienu mazu zivi – abi apēda vēl vairāk. Kāda diena. Dienas beigās vēl dueti. Vai Lēdija atgriezīsies gulēt pie tām

8.septembris
September 8: Lady came to the nest by the chicks at around 7:30 last night, when a possum passed. She moved again some 4 hours later spending the night nearby- so the chicks were alone in the bowl again. There was an early duet, then both eagles left. Dad brought in leaves several times –then eagles were seen on ironbark roost in the sun. Another duet, when 36 joined in a little too -and both begging from time to time. More leaves brought by both parents. Finally Dad brought what seemed to be an eel-tailed catfish just before 1pm. Lady fed, with 35 getting more. He brought a bream in later and fed them himself – both doing well. Late afternoon more when Lady brought a gull carcass and fed them both – nice full crops at end of day. Last thing, another gull from Dad and another feed from Lady – 35 again had more. Another good day for feeds. She settled by the satisfied chicks then –and we heard a boobook calling.

8. septembris: epriekšējāvakarā ap pulksten 19:30 vakar naktī lēdija ieradās ligzdā pie mazuļiem, kad pārskrēja oposums. Pēc aptuveni 4 stundām viņa atkal pārvietojās, nakšņojot netālu, tāpēc mazuļi atkal bija vieni ligzdas bļodā. Agri atskanēja duets, tad abi ērgļi aizgāja. Tētis vairākas reizes atnesa lapas – tad ērgļi bija redzami saulē uz dzelzs mizas ligzdas. Vēl viens duets, kad se 36 pievienojās arī nedaudz – un abi laiku pa laikam prasīja brokastis. Abi vecāki atnesa vēl lapas. Visbeidzot, tētis īsi pirms pulksten 13:00 atnesa kaut ko līdzīgu zuša astes samam. Lēdija pabaroja, un se 35 ieguva vairāk. Vēlāk viņš atnesa plaudi un pats tos pabaroja – abiem klājās labi. Vēlāk pēcpusdienā vēl, kad lēdija atnesa kaijas maitu un pabaroja abus – dienas beigās jauka, pilna raža. Visbeidzot, vēl viena kaija no tēta un vēl viena barošana no lēdijas – se 35 atkal bija ieguvusi vairāk. Vēl viena laba diena barošanai. Tad viņa apmetās pie apmierinātajiem mazuļiem – un mēs dzirdējām lāča saucienu.

9.septembris
September 9 : Lady moved away from the chicks last night and they slept alone until a little rain after 3:40 when she returned to shelter them. An early start in the morning, with a duet, then both parents were off. Dad brought the remains of a bird in at 7:40, claimed by Lady and fed –both eventually ate. 36 had a long thin bone caught in its bill – struggling for some time until it was finally removed by Dad. Then they were alone on the nest. Mid -afternoon Lady came with a mullet –fed 35, 36 head down after a peck from 35. Then 36 moved up behind Lady and was fed “backhand” – eating well. Late afternoon, another gull and again both fed well. Full crops and lazing on the nest at dark. Lady came in to the nest, then moved off again.

9. septembris: Lēdija pagājušajā naktī attālinājās no mazuļiem, un tie gulēja vieni līdz nelielam lietum pēc pulksten 3:40, kad viņa atgriezās, lai tos patvertu. Agri no rīta viņi sāka staigāt pa ligzdas bedrīti, tad abi vecāki devās prom. Tētis pulksten 7:40 atnesa putna mirstīgās atliekas, kuras paņēma Lēdija un pabaroja – abi galu galā paēda. se36 putnam knābī bija iesprūdis garš, tievs kauls – tas kādu laiku mocījās, līdz tētis to beidzot izņēma. Tad viņi palika vieni uz ligzdas. Pēcpusdienā Lēdija atnāca ar kefali – pabaroja se 35., se 36. ar noliektu galvu pēc tam, kad se35 bija knābājis. Tad se36 pārvietojās aiz Lēdijas un tika pabarots “ar muguru” – tas labi ēda. Vēlā pēcpusdienā vēl viena kaija, un atkal abi labi paēda. Pilna guza un laiskošanās ligzdā līdz tumsai. Lēdija ieradās ligzdā un tad atkal devās prom.

10.septembris

An early post at 4:40 as storm is approaching my place - September 10 : the chicks were uncovered last night until rain started, when Lady moved back to the bowl to cover them, as well as she could. In the morning, wet Lady and damp nestlings. She did not leave then until 8:45 – damp and dirty. Dad finally bought a fish at 9:52, grabbed by Lady and fed to the nestlings –mainly 35. Then the nestlings huddled together in the bowl alone, but mostly with one or other eagle nearby. The rain eased and during the morning both eagles brought in several sprays of leaves. Just after midday she returned, as rain started again. As rain eased, she left after about 30 minutes. Dad brought in a small fish at 13:21, again grabbed by Lady and fed to the young, mainly 35 again. When rain started again later, she returned to shelter them. Another fish at 14:35 –and another feeding, with 36 doing well. Lady covered them again after –with light rain. As the rain became heavier, she spread her wings out.

Agrs ieraksts pulksten 4:40, jo manai dzīvesvietai tuvojas vētra - 10. septembris: mazuļi vakar vakarā bija atsegti, līdz sākās lietus, tad Lady atgriezās bļodā, lai tos apsegtu, cik vien labi spēja. No rīta slapja Lady un mitri mazuļi. Viņa negāja prom līdz pulksten 8:45 - mitra un netīra. Tētis beidzot pulksten 9:52 atnesa zivtiņu, ko Lady paķēra un pabaroja mazuļiem - galvenokārt se35. Tad mazuļi saspiedās bļodā vieni paši, bet galvenokārt blakus bija viens vai otrs ērglis. Lietus mitējās, un no rīta abi ērgļi atnesa vairākas lapu kārtas. Tūlīt pēc pusdienlaika viņa atgriezās, jo atkal sākās lietus. Lietus mitējoties, viņa aizgāja pēc apmēram 30 minūtēm. Tētis pulksten 13:21 atnesa mazu zivtiņu, ko Lady atkal paķēra un pabaroja mazuļus, galvenokārt atkal se35. Kad vēlāk atkal sākās lietus, viņa atgriezās, lai tos pasargātu. Vēl viena zivtiņa pulksten 14:35 - un vēl viena barošana, se36 klājas labi. Pēc tam lēdija tos atkal apsedza ar vieglu lietu. Kad lietus kļuva stiprāks, viņa izpleta spārnus. Vakarā pirms tumsas iestāšanās vēl viena zivtiņa. Kriteni labi paēda se36
